Paypal Gift Payment...
Alright, I have a question.
I see a lot of people requesting that they get paid through Paypal as a gift. I don't see the difference. Someone has to pay the dues, correct? I mean, it is one of two things, and in this example, let's say it is 20 bucks...
If they ask for 20 bucks, when I pay the regular way (for goods) whoever is getting the money has to pay some amount for dues. So, I send 20 and they pay and only get lets say 19 bucks.
If they ask for 20 bucks, when I pay by gift, they either get the amount less the dues, or I have to pay the dues. So, either they get the 19 bucks or I pay 21.
So, I don't get it. Am I doing something wrong? Isn't it the same thing? Or are the dues less as a gift? Or am I supposed to pay the dues? Or am I not doing something when I go to complete the payment where the dues are supposed to be waived for a gift? I am just confused. Can someone clarify for me? Thanks.

All I know so far is that is you send money as a gift you are not protected by Paypal in case the other end does not send you.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any fees associated w/gift payments. At least that was my understanding.

yep, but as the person mentioned above. With no fees also comes no protection from Paypal. People are starting to hear more and more recently about those that are asking to send it as a gift and then the other party receives and hears nothing.

Agreed definitely. I've been asked to send as a gift by someone I hadn't traded with before and I had to say no offense, but I'm not comfortable doing that. I'm sure scammers will jump all over this.
Not sure on that either...haven't heard anything about it.

If you bought it through e-bay there may not be a choice. If you send payment on your own and elect to send it as a gift there are no fees.
