    I would have brought Rivera in immediately after AJ left, but that's not how ML managers handle their closers these days. God forbid they think outside the box a little. Was a much more important spot that what would have more than likely come to fruition later in the game. But I digress...

    I think teams score an average of just under 2 runs per inning where they start with 0 out and runners on first and second. Teams score around 0.7 runs per inning starting fresh. A teams odds of winning with a 2 run lead in the 7th is significantly lower than a teams odds of winning with a 2 run lead in the 9th. Rivera can impact the game in a much larger fashion pitching in that 7th inning spot than a fresh 9th inning.
