I beg to differ. The buyer could of asked a head of time but the seller should of provided a better description of the combined shipping rate.

If you are buying a car and the dealer just says "It has a warranty" then it is your responsibility to ask about the details of the warranty. If you don't and it turns out that the warranty expires 10 minutes after you buy the car, it is your own fault for not asking.

If you are buying a house and the seller says "There are some minor problems" and you don't ask "What problems?" then it is your fault when you discover that your new house has been condemned and will be torn down next week.

If you buy cards on eBay and the seller says "I combine shipping" and you don't ask what "combined shipping" means then you bear responsibility when the shipping comes in excessive.

The simple reality is this...a buyer who does nothing to protect themselves will usually be unhappy with the results.

Expecting sellers to be honest and upfront about everything is naive. If you don't protect yourself nobody else will.

As an adult I know better and agree but I'm sure there are plenty of young adults that get taken advantage of. And that's the main reason I dislike sales people-dishonesty or omitting information.

This just reads as an argument of deflecting the responsibility to ask your own questions and use your own responsibility.

And, as far as I understand it, the seller just said he would combine shipping, not necessarily discount it. There's combining shipping, and discounting it. Combining shipping is more of a logistical thing, whereas a shipping discount is about the cost.

you are right i shouldve asked before i bid, but its kind of wierd i just won 9 cards from a different seller and they said they would combine shipping.
3.00 for the first and .50 thereafter, total charged shipping was only $4.00 for all 9 cards and they are the thick ones, i emailed the person and told them if it cost anymore than that to let me know and i would pay more for the shipping. For 9 thick cards in Magnetic holders @ $4.00, hes losing money on the shipping. I dont want any seller losing money on shipping. Also dont want them to try to make money off of it either

You should not leave negative feedback in that situation. The seller did nothing wrong. Maybe he overcharges for s/h, but that's not his fault that someone paid for it all. If I were the buyer I would leave positive feedback since I received what I bought and just state that I believe seller should lower s/h fees.

I wont leave negetive feedback, because i shouldve asked
but i will let him know that his shipping is extreme.
Its my belief that most sellers charge those big shipping prices because they are unhappy with the outcome of the sale. Im sorry if there cards didnt get the bids he wanted. They shouldve listed them at the lowest price they will accept without overcharging S/H.

I been buying cards on ebay for a while and have never ran into this problem.
I went ahead and honored my end of the deal and paid. LOL got an email from paypal saying that they where shipped using paypal shipping. Basically he dosent even have to leave his house. So where is the handling fee coming from?

LOL, he printed the label at his house, he still has to package them, use materials of his to help package the cards, and nothing says he wont drive to the po to drop off the packages. I use paypal shipping, i still have to package the cards, make sure they are well protected, and since i don't trust leaving cards in my mail i drive them to my local po to drop them off, thats time, gas, materials, labor. Thats what handling is,
Handling is everything involved in shipping. I mean sure if you just wanted him to tape the shipping label to the card itself im sure he could and would save you plenty on handling.

Ok alot of you are saying its the Buyers responsibility for everything. Hey My car takes gas and I need ink for my Printer yadda yadda yadda. So Let me ask when is the seller at fault. When should the seller use common sense? Cause When I list something I know that the gas and ink and so forth comes with me agreeing to list it. Its part of the seller responsibility to ship it to the buyer. I am sure the Buyer didn't email this guy and go "Hey Please sell me these card Please" The seller listed it knowing what he needed to do afterwards to get these cards out.The seller did not get what he wanted for the cards and decided to add that cost to the buyer. Plain and simple. You want a good way to fix this sellers? List the cards for what you want for them. You want $5 for the card list it as so. Don't put 99 cents and get mad cause you got $1.04 instead of the $5 you wanted. Don't over charge on shipping to make a few Bucks back. It works both ways folks. The seller here is just as responsible as the Buyer.

I run into this sometimes I will not pay more than $3 on one auction. I think anything over that is just crazy. When I ask about combining if I get a answer back that I think is fair I bid if not move on. And I read this thread some say combining and discount are not the same which is right but how many on here think when they say combine shipping that means discount? Do the math think it is 1.18 to make label on paypal 50 cent for bubbler and let's say 5 cent worth of tape to put label on. And the gas to post office is overrated how many times does one ride by a post office or why can't you just drop it in a mailbox you know those big blue things on the street or even drop it in the work mail. I have a good one I paid $3 for shipping waited and waited on card asked about card he yelled at me for saying I am lying then to find out he mailed it without postage which I had to pay to pick up. I email him he yells some more you can bet what feedback I left then he relpys to feedback saying I was to be avoided some people

Wow that is so strange I had a guy do that recently. He charged me $3 shipping and when I got it I had to pay 33 cents cause he put 2 stamps on the package. I wish Paypal would control some of these things. Another one is when you receive a damaged card and you have to pay to send it back to the seller. Why?!? I already paid the seller once to send me a good card why must I be out $3 to send the junk he sent back to him. Even if I get a full refund Im still out $3
