This deal is terrible.....once KG/Allen/Pierce are all gone, Rondo will be back to being completely worthless to his team. My God. $11 million for a guy who can't shoot, and who can't even make free throws....lol. Way to go, Boston!

So he'll go back to being a rookie? That was the only season he played in the NBA without the big 3...

And everyone thought the Cavs were stupid for the deal they gave Varejao. Well...they still are stupid...but not as stupid as Boston is for pulling this move.

He plays average as it is STRICTLY because of the big three around him....he'll go back to being a below average PG once they retire. Sorry, but I'll pass on a PG who has no shooting abilities and can't even shoot 60% from the Free Throw line.

6 year, 45 million. People fail to realize it's mainly incentive based....hardly any of it is guaranteed. But still, yes, bad deal.

Do you think he'll get the incentives involved? Regardless of incentive based contract, thats just an AWFUL deal, just as bad as Rajons deal, well it was good for him bad for Boston

I don't know exactly what the full deal was....but I'd doubt it. I can't imagine Varejao would put up the numbers that were hatched out, whatever they are. Unless it's strictly a games played/minutes played/games started thing.

He's average? Ok, maybe his career numbers aren't great, but neither were John Stockton's (13.1 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 10.5 APG), yet he's an all-time great...but, Rondo had an excellent season last year, and has improved every year he's been in the league.

Yep. Rondo is average. He can't shoot to save his life, and the only reason he has half of the assists that he does is because he has knock-down shooters around him. The guy is the definition of 'average.'

I'm pretty sure Rondo is not average, I know there are a lot of biased people on these forums who give inputs into situations they don't know much about. Rondo is a pass first point guard, if he doesn't have to score he won't, but if he does he will. Check last year when KG was out, Look who mostly picked up his points. He's also a very good rebounder and has a very low assist to turnover ratio. If most of you guys were to say look at Tony Parker, when he came into the league he wasn't a great shooter, he could finish at the rim like Rondo, but outside was below average. Now you can't have a conversation with mentioning his name as top 5 PG. Same will be Rondo. As for once the big three leaves, the Celtics will add more pieces to this team. Who knows maybe they could even add someone next year when Rays contract is up.
