09-10 Champs Checklist

no callahan for me, not really a shocker but why they have players from other sports is beyond me...sure it would be nice to hit a lebron or jerry rice auto but it just doesn't make sense for a hockey set.
BUT they did increase the hits this year as now there are at least 4 hits, at least 2 of them being mini threads and 1-2 mini sigs. i also think the design is a little better than last years, either way i'll still pass on it unless the price is dropped.
thoughts?

Happy to see Weber get a mini signature card this year.

Thanks for sharing with us. I was disappointed with Champs last year. Maybe my box break wasn't one of the better ones. I dunno, the value of your break is just too diluted. The "hits" are of lower value, the rookies aren't too great, and even a history BUFF like myself couldn't get as into the natural history and historical stuff as much as the hype had me anticipating.
All in all, I would have preferred to have seen Champs tossed and Masterpieces maintained. I guess UD was tired of the damaged cards problem producing Masterpieces was costing them (in money and in customer service claims).
For what Champs costs a box, it just isn't worth it to me. Sad, seeing as I'm the exact target for a product like this (combining my two loves - hockey and history).Last edited by ravens_creed; 11-07-2009 at 04:32 PM. Reason: grammatical - I'm a perfectionist

I guess I'm the only one so far who likes what this is going to be. Better than Masterpieces in my opinion.
As for the non-Hockey sports stuff, last year, they projected a ton of names and... mostly none of them appeared.
Since you're saying that you'll pass unless the price is dropped, what's the price you've been quoted?
Cheers,
reoddai

I busted quite a bit of this last year, but I do not really like the design this year.

i'm saying in general compared to last year, 08-09 is currently $112 without shipping on d&a, for 2 autos and 1 jsy with some rc's that are decently valued at best? no thanks, and i'm sure the price will be similar if not MORE than last year as most of the products released so far have been following that trend, plus the stellar rookie class this year.
