The Pricing could maybe be justified, but they forget that Upper Deck goes so over the top to make sure Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns are the first rookies of the big names. For all the waiting people do on the BAP, Ultra, and Artifacts redemptions, the UD rookies should really be priced to reflect that. Besides the people who could afford UD Black(if the top rookies are not redemptions), Upper Deck Series 1 is really the only option at a better rookie card right now. . I am not sure, but there is just no way Tavares should be less than Stamkos.

I am not so sure ebay is the only guide to pricing that should be used, because there are cards on there that sell for $2 that people could easily turn around and sell for $10-$20. And not every collector uses ebay. I meet more collectors that really hate trying to buy on ebay and hate not seeing the card in person before buying. Then some just really do not even log on at all. And a lot of the "ebay" collectors tend to be hypocrites (the ones I meet). They complain that they could get card x on ebay for way lower than beckett, but then when ebay is selling higher than beckett, they complain that it is priced over beckett.

On a little side note.. I really like Black Diamond, but last years pricing was so messy.. So many were overpriced, then dropped to a common the next issue. Stamkos even went down for one issue, then back up. Blake Wheeler and TJ Oshie went up and down like a roller coaster.. Filatov and Berglund went up and down so much , that I stopped trying to even figure out what beckett was trying to do. I assumed Stamkos in Black Diamond was more rare than his Young Gun rookie, so I assumed it should be higher in price (not lower).

I'm going to tie all of this up with a nice little bow, and then close up the thread since we're just about done here...

I seem to have raised a lot of hellfire and brimstone yesterday. The three message boards I frequent for my hobby were all lit up yesterday over this subject. And you know what? Beckett listened! They said they would revise their pricing on UD1 to bring it into line with reality, and they have! I haven't looked at any of the parallel or insert sets, but when I look at the YGs I think, "That's much more like it." The numbers there are numbers that I would use as a trading and/or selling guide. I've sold two JVR YGs - the first one within days of product release bang-on at the HI value and the second one a couple weeks later roughly in the middle of their numbers. I've seen people straight-up swap Ovy & Tavares YGs. Evander Kane is now booking higher than Yannick Weber.

My hope posting this thread yesterday was to generate change. Mission accomplished.
