It's sad...
It's sad to know that there will never be a Topps Chrome Brandon Jennings RC auto, a Bowman Chrome Blake Griffin RC, Bowman Chrome Tyreke Evans autograph RC. No SPX James Harden autograph/jersey RC...nor Hot Prospects Ty Lawson autograph/patch RC....
etc. etc.
Money, greed & politics... = all the evil in this world. I can't even enjoy my favorite hobby anymore. At least I can still enjoy a nice game on TV but heck w/ the Tim Donaghy scandal who knows about the integrity of the game anymore?
Needed to get this off my chest. Go Knicks!

Panini has made the hobby less enjoyable for me as well. I just want some base cards with no diagonal lines. . . . .

I'm a Knicks fan as well and the moment Bernard King went down was pretty much the end of the Knicks. Starks gave me breathing room in the 90's until he went 0 for 16.
As far as cards, Panini does blow and it blows big time.
However, this is your chance to grab all the Topps you can and for pretty cheap (not jumbo cases anymore). I got the jump right when they released and close to completing the 2009/10 Master set (Complete Gold, Black, Chrome, Refractor, and all sub sets). When the season is over or the set is complete, we're (son and I) going to start collecting the 2003/04 Chrome set, then Refractors and so on.
I can see all Current and Older Topps Chrome going up in Value.
and btw, I live in Phoenix and go to some Suns games, Cartwright is an assistant coach, Knickerbockers for life.

True that! I won't collect again until they get their license back along with UD.

Thats really great you collect/share your hobby with your son. Good luck with collecting the 03'04 Topps Chrome set. I'm sure the LeBron will cost a shiny nickel. I agree with you, all Topps Chrome cards will go up in value. Thats nice you go to Suns games. Guys like King & Cartwright are a little before my time. I was born in '85, grew up watching the 90s Knickerbockers. Yea, that Starks game really hurt where he went 0-for. But he was my favorite Knick. Wished I could've seen our championship teams. Reed...Frazier...DeBusschere...Monroe... Just too bad that 90s squad couldn't pick up just 1 championship...

He does have one of the Sickest Dunks in NBA History.
and we pulled the Lebron actally (gold refractor) already.
:) it's always nice pulling a Lebron no matter what age, like Jordan for me back in the day, lol.

Ya, I posted a thread about Panini Threads making a joke of Jersey AUTOs and Patches. Its sad because this time last year we had 5 awesome sets like Topps Chrome, Sp Rookie Threads, Spx, Bowman, and Treasury.
Everyone tells me to keep waiting but my favorite time for collecting is about to pass.
Its sad that people are defending a cruddy product we spend tons of money on.

I'm really sad that I missed collecting from the whole late 90's - early 2000's period.
Though I have been a NBA fan my whole life, I didn't start collecting until the 2006-07 season. I got cards on a whim at target one day and never stopped ever since.
I am really sad that I miss perhaps the best eras of Upper Deck, Fleer, Skybox, and Topps, but I was happy these past few years catching up on ebay and getting new cards.
I'm really disappointed that UD and Topps lost their license but had some hope that Panini could make somewhat decent cards. But now all expectations and hopes for Panini is gone as they continue to roll out with unattractive cards . . . . I'm not even a huge high end person, would've been happy if they made some exciting base and inserts.

I agree, things just arent the same. I can remember freaking out when I pulled the Shaq All rookie series from 92-93 fleer ultra when it was initially booked at $120. Of course now its only $20 but it was a big thing back in the day:) The whole Panini thing really sucks. I think Ill just buy old boxes from the last 3yrs, pretending like they are new products.
