Another problem with upperdeck
I dont know if this topic has ever been talked about before but I would like to bring it up. I collect current sharks wearing their sharks uniforms and when I was looking at the SPGU checklist, I saw the sharks had a 4 player jersey, when I checked the players it was thornton/setoguchi/blake/cheechoo....Why is cheechoo still put with the sharks??? This late in the season I would expect upperdeck to have it right. I would love for heatley to be on that card instead of cheechoo. Now I dont want that card for my collection......just wanted to share and see if anyone else has the same problem

It comes out late in the season, but I think you're assuming that they're not making the cards now (or earlier) and haven't planned the checklist since the summer, when they're looking at what jerseys they have, and who to put into what sets.

While 30randfordfan is technically correct, this has been an issue for UD in the past. I have a Mark Recchi from 08-09 Black Diamond... They have a Tampa Bay Lightning logo on the card, the image shows Recchi in an Atlanta Thrashers uniform, and the jersey swatches are from a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey. As the 'licensed' NHL card manufacturer come on guys!? If it was from a 'journeyman' or 'travelers' or something sub-set, it might be interesting. It's not.
I understand that trades happen and moves are made, and most can't be predicted. That's fine. But they could definitely improve.

Oh, no question they could improve. And cards like the Recchi you're talking about are hallarious.
They'll probably have Cheecho Sharks jerseys on Senators cards, and Heatley Senators on Sharks cards for a year still.

nothing that hasn't been heard before. these sets, checklists, and pics are decided and produced months in advance. some last minute cosmetic changes can be done here and there but usually it's too late. as for the jerseys, there's no way, as a business, UD will ever stop using a jersey they've paid for already.
they could improve but everything from buying new jerseys, to redesigning the cards, to reproducing a batch of base cards costs money and man hours. that would increase the price of the products to the consumer in the end.

I understand that sometimes they have made the product in advance but come on, sets coming out in January still havent made changes of trades that happened in september....I dont even care if they use a sens jersey swatch in the heatley window....

Problem is he hasn't played a game for the Ducks yet so his photo will be as a Leaf until then I assume.

Same thing happened last season - it's usually not until the late-season releases that you see everybody pictured as they should be. I'm a tinge surprised that they can roll out YGs for UD1 but getting shots of all the guys that changed teams in the off-season with their new teams often takes until Ice or SP Authentic. I think the only player they had pictured with his new team quickly last season was Marian Hossa.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

that's probably telling you the set started production prior to September then. i heard they start the next year's set at this year's release date meaning when 09-10 Black Diamond is released this week, they're already starting the process again for the 2010-11 release (minus the rookies portion).
