Shriners Auditorium Show – Wilmington Mass November 7, 2009

It was, after all, inevitable that Notre Dame would fire Charlie Weis, as they did yesterday. Weis thought that returning to his alma mater and implementing the offensive system that worked so well for him under Bill Belichick with New England would lead the Fighting Irish back to prominence. It didn't happen. Weis was let go after a 6-6 campaign in which every negative move was over-scrutinized and allowed the speculation to begin as to when, not if, Weis would be fired.

Earlier today, Notre Dame, as expected, dismissed Charlie Weis as head coach after 5 seasons. The Fighting Irish are not likely to accept any kind of a bowl bid after a 6-6 regular season that ended with 4 straight losses.

Many in the media were expecting Weis to have already been gone after last season, so the vultures were circling South Bend all season, waiting for something to happen. Going 0-for-November was that something, a collapse on a par with the Mets of 2007-8 if you believe ...

Kelin (redwingfn7) went to the Gibraltar Trade Center for a cardshow which I think is one of the best in the Nation. Even with the economic downturn it still a good show to hit if your in the area.

I headed out as usual to the show knowing a few things. It was the Holiday and UK was playing. So the show would be busy early then die down later due to UK being at home. Also, with the Holidays you never know how a show will be as some dealers will not be there due to family commitments etc. So with that I headed out and waited to see what awaited me upon my arrival.
