Thinking about it more.....gven the circumstances, sadly this is probably the best we could get for Hickson. He thinks he's gonna get superstar money next year, and the Cavs weren't gonna give him that. I'm sure the fact that he wants such big $$$ turned a ton of teams off.

thats how i have been thinking. he would be gone in the offseason anyways. I am one of the few who still think he can be a star in the league, given how much he has improved since his rookie year.

I love how much hate cleveland fans have given him, despite him being just a 19th pick.

I don't think Cleveland fans necessarily 'hate' him, but when you have the potential to be a really good player and just seem to not care, people get irritated with you.

still i think he exceeded expectations from when he was drafted. just look at past 19th picks, most didn't become as successful in just their 3rd year.

The issue wasn't about his "producing" at a #19 pick level - it's the fact that in 08/09 the Cavs were legit title contenders and they took a kid that everyone knew was at least 3 years away from really helping win a title.

Cavs fans in general wanted a more ready to contribute player. Would they have gotten one? That's up for debate as there wasn't a ton of talent left. Cavs fans would have been just as ™™™™™™ with an Ibaka pick or something like that.

That was more the issue then anything. People didn't want to wait for him to develop when the Cavs were ready to win.

I just dont know what to think. Its just one BIG mess.So now we have to wait for tt to develop if he does and have to start Jamisons soft butt. Him and Hollis will make a good pair.

What's it really matter though? We aren't contenders now anyways...might as well let TT develop.

Plus, by letting Jamison start, hopefully he puts up good enough numbers that we can find a trading partner for him at the deadline.

That was an awesome trade for both teams, but it was a protected lottery pick that was traded to the Cavs. I don't see the Kings making the Lottery next year. I was suprised how bad they did this year.

The Cavs have some raw and young talent on their projected starting rotation, but wow they have shored up their backcourt with Caspi at SF and Hickson only had a good closeout to the season, not really a great season this last year.

Thompson is gonna be great if he can develop his B-ball IQ. He has the physical attributes to excel, and has a lot more upside than Hickson did.

Don't fret it, they might have lost your favorite player, BUT the Cavs are getting better alot faster than I thought it would take. Especially with the luck of getting the #1 and #4 picks

Exactly. I don't see a problem at all letting Jamison start and Thompson getting major minutes.

If anything keeping Hickson just deters Thompson's development even more - one of them had to go - and only one of them is going to want $8M+ a year. It also gives the Cavs one more "crap" year - and hopefully Barnes or Davis in the 2012 draft.

Am I happy with the trade? Yes (although not as much once full protections were announced)

But at the end of the day if they turned Hickson into Casspi and say a #15 pick (which is reasonable - not sure what year though) and it allows Thompson to play right away I don't see a problem.

Lets say hypothetically the Kings get the #8 spot next year in the playoffs and the Cavs get a Top 20 pick - in addition to their own pick since the Kings pick will be out of the protection lottery.

We turn those 2 picks into Harrison Barnes (Goes Top 3) and Will Buford (Goes 15-20)

    C - Varejao
    PF - Thompson
    SF - Barnes
    SG - Buford
    PG - Irving

Bench - Casspi and whatever we get in trade for Davis/Jamison (or more picks)

Sign me up for that any day.
