Canucks RCs and RCs of anyone who played for Vancouver.
Rookie Cards will always have a premium on them. We now have ARPs and #/99 RCs but the RC will never really die the way inserts have and jerseys are, no matter what you do to them. YGs, while scrubs fall to $5, keep their value on the better players. Even going with a low end product like Victory or MVP the really good/popular players can still hold quite a premium, even if the others have dropped to $1.50.
A RC is a RC and that will never change.

I like rookie cards but I'm a little burned out on the whole patch thing, which is probably why I really like Ultimate Collection rookies. Clean-looking and simple, and no worrying about fake patches, pulling a single color, etc.

That's my whole point. Inserts were taken over by parallels which were taken over by jerseys which are now being taken over by patches and 1/1s.
Through it all, a RC has remained at the same level it always has. A RC is still the most valuable and sought after of "Base" set cards. Second year cards don't hold nearly the same premium on new cards as old ones, but RCs still hold that premium.
They can add all the bells and whistles they want (how long before a set with actual referee whistles?) to them, but a RC is a RC no matter how you slice it and always will be.

Which would actually explain why event used rookie cards are worth more than All-Star/HoF jersey cards.

Since I came back to the hobby, I've noticed jersey cards become more and more worthless. It's not so much the flood of jersey cards that is the problem as the flood of patch cards. Sure, they're low numbered, but there's still a lot more than there seems to have been in the past. Add in the fact that it's still difficult to get a high end player, but a really nice patch of a no-name can still be a nice PC addition if it's your team.
It's basically what happened to inserts. For a time they were the ultimate. Once they'd been around awhile, people moved onto parallels and then jerseys, now 1/1s and patches.
The only thing that seems impervious to this treadmill is autos. But come on, who doesn't love an autograph. RCs too, I guess.

One interesting thing is that, not only have jerseys become a lesser card, but they've now been around long enough that some people are not happy having a jersey card until they know it's game used, not event or photo shoot. This is something auto cards have, and continue to go through with the sticker vs hard-signed debate.

At the end of the day you have to decide if you want a collection to keep or if you want to rotate it to keep up with the times. Neither is a bad choice, it just relates to what you want. Some people want all the cards, some just want to always have the hottest/most valuable cards.

I Couldn't have said it any better.

He also had his numerous ailments included spinal disc herniation, Hodgkin's lymphoma, chronic tendinitis of a hip-flexor muscle, and chronic back pain so severe that other people had to tie his skates. He has retired twice because of his health (and also missed an entire season because of it prior to his first retirement): first in 1997 after battling lymphoma (he returned in 2000), and for a second and final time in 2006, after being diagnosed with an atrial fibrillation.

hey genius i was replying to who he played with

Don't forget he was also plagued by "clutch-and-grab"itis throughout his entire career. To think that he racked up all those point with defenders draped all over him is nothing short of miraculous!

I draw the line at scab cards.

Gonna show my ignorance, but, what is a "scab" card?
