    super collecting problem

hey guys, so as you may or may not know i have recently become the boedker super collector. however i have a problem on my hands as some of you other super collectors may have dealt with.

there's another person who i've gotten to know through collecting who also wants all the boedker cards he can get. well this causes an obvious problem.

for one, i don't have all the money in the world, in fact just the opposite and two, i'm the super collector, there isn't room for us both. i already have most of the rarest cards, yet he bids against me on eBay on every new card and all the rare ones that pop up and it's not only making it so hard for me to continue growing my pc but it's flat out ruining it for me.

not trying to be a baby here, but what should i do. i'm really down on this right now, it's making me feel like i just wanna sell all my cards and that's he's really ruining the fun of being a super collector. i don't have money to spend on all the 1/1's that pop up, let alone stupid printing plates that i don't even care for but i'm supposed to get cause i'm the super collector.

the cup auto plates, sure i like those, but all the other cup plates, and 4th year dominion plates now.

he's making me overspend and he's overspending to steal them away from me. that's good for the sellers sure, but it's just ruining the fun of my pc.

when moltendurka was the boedker guy up until a year ago, i knew his collection at the time was much better than mine and i knew he would out pay me, so rather than bid him up, i just let him have the really rare stuff and we talked about the other cards so we knew which ones to bid on.

but that's not happening here. i'm not saying i'm more worthy than this guy competing against me, but like i've said again, it's ruining it for me and makes me wanna just give up and sell which sucks.

    thoughts/help?

Talk to him, when new cards tgat are 1/1 decide who gets it and the other person doesn't bid.
Then it allows the other to get it cheaper

this is a problem for most of us! but i think its worth collecting someone who other people collect, makes them envy the cards you have that they do not and so on.I have been battling tons of Penny collectors since he joined the league and i was just a kid. This is how the hobby works! why would you wanna be the only person who collected a certain player? if nobody has or had interest in the players cards wouldnt this drive the value down to nothing?I myself do not have alot of funds compared to all of the other collectors but have wheeled and dealed searched and negotiated nearly every day for the past 5 years. It will always be a competition and if the players continues to improve there will be more competition!keep up the fight man never have doubt..the constant search is what makes this fun! good luck :)

doesn't work when we both want every card, that's the problem. my collection is by far better and always will be, but new cards pop up that are 1/1's like plates, and some times very rare rc's pop up and we both want them. it's either i have them all because i'm the super collector, or it's ruined and what's the point of being a super collector. goal is to get 100% of his cards. i know that's impossible because their are other collectors.

problem is, this person is bidding against me on what seems every rare and new card that pops up now and it's beyond annoying and making my pc hard to grow. i don't have money to outbid him because he wants to be stupid and spend whatever it takes.

a $20 card shouldn't go for $50 just cause he has more money than me.

pennyfan, i totally get what you're saying and it's certainly not that i wanna be the only collector, i love that there are other boedker collectors, i get excited about that, but when another persons goal is to also be a super collector of the same player, well that kinda ruins everything. there's only room for one

Thats the supply and demand of ebay, if no one else wanted the card that $20 card would sell for $0.99. As everyone says a card is only worth what some is willing to pay for it. If I were you I would just save up and not bid on EVERYTHING and be willing to pay a high price when the super rare ones come along.

Money wins tge fight every time
If he has tge money, he will win them

Let him win, if you hold on to the cards you have eventually he won't have too many 1/1 and he might sell his collection

Also btw, getting 100% is almost impossible
Other player collectors, people who just want a 1/1 people who pull and keep everything, people who buy one

Like I'm not a duchene collector, but I may buy a 1/1 of his because I like that card.

No one is "making you" overspend. You have the right to buy, or not buy, any card out there, but saying someone is making you overspend because they also want the card is silly.

What does being a supercollector mean to you? If it means you have to get every card of a player, then do so. If it means you really like the player and want to get certain cards that you like, do that. No one is forcing you to buy all cards of one player, and being upset at someone because they also like the same player is kind of silly. Just because you have the "super collector" badge doesnt entitle you to cards of that player.

palantri - i get that trust me, but it becomes an obsession, a super collector wants them all and while i know that's impossible and i said that, but doesn't mean i still won't try for it.

i wasn't trying to sound like a whiner, but you have to understand it's taking away from the goal and fun when another person also wants to be a super collector.

like i said, when the other guy was collecting and had the bigger and better pc going, i let him have the big cards, and we worked deals out for other rare ones, and he helped me actually get cards i needed as a thanks for letting him have the 1/1's for example.

i NEVER said i was entitled to them, so please don't put words in my mouth. it's just frustrating getting outbid and cards selling for more just cause we are constantly bidding against eachother. i can't afford that

id talk to the guy, and maybe focus your collection- for example(just an example) maybe you focus on the panini brand stuff and he focuses on the UD brand stuff. that may help both of you because you arent bidding against each other and are still getting the cards you really like
