yeah that wouldn't work either, i want them all. that's just the honest truth, as does he. we have become friends but he is in denmark and it's not easy to communicate on a daily basis. i mentioned to him that for the cards that are number even as low as /5 and up, we should talk about which one to bid on because there will be more of them. for example, i get this one, you get the next one or vice versa, but he just hasn't been talkative enough, i do all the communicating and it's just not working.

with the previous boedker collector, we talked multiple times a day and had great communication on which cards to go after so we could both build monster pc's at the same time.

i appreciate the feedback so far, and remember i'm honestly not trying to whine, just feel like the wind has been taken from my sail here and it's making me contemplate continuing.

Such is the life my friend. Even though around these parts you are "the man" when it comes to Boedker there will always be other collectors out there that want to scoop up a player's cards, regardless of his popularity or your own reputation. Look at 30ranfordfan - spectacular Bill Ranford collection but if he's paired on a card with another popular Oilers player, he's gonna have to pay up or let someone else take it. Same thing goes for me and my Carey Price collection. Can't have 'em all unless money's no object, just the way she goes.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

the worst and what really really frustrates me is say a 1/1 card that would complete my rainbow.

for example, the dominion 1/1 base came up and it's a 4th year card of boedkers, and a base card, so i bid $60, i mean that should have been more than enough, and would have been but this guy bid over $70, i know for a fact. i barely had $60 to spend. i end up losing that card, he doesn't even have the others for the rainbow, and it cost me the rainbow.

that is what really started the downfall.

if a printing plate comes up and i lose it, i'm mad but not really that mad because it's a plate and there are tons of them and i'll never get them all, i don't even go for them most of the time anyway.

but rainbow sets, that's what really bugs me!

If he is cool just message him when the big cards come up and see what he is willing to go to and vice versa, that way you guys aren't bidding eachother up. I have done that before.

he is cool, but he doesn't see it my way, he won't just let me have anything so it doesn't matter. and i on the less rare but still rare ones, i'll message him on facebook or you tube but he's not on very much and he's 6 hours ahead so it makes it difficult to communicate.

ah whatever, i'll either have to get over the fact that i can't get every card i want, or just sell

hey guys, so as you may or may not know i have recently become the boedker super collector. however i have a problem on my hands as some of you other super collectors may have dealt with.

there's another person who i've gotten to know through collecting who also wants all the boedker cards he can get. well this causes an obvious problem.

for one, i don't have all the money in the world, in fact just the opposite and two, i'm the super collector, there isn't room for us both. i already have most of the rarest cards, yet he bids against me on eBay on every new card and all the rare ones that pop up and it's not only making it so hard for me to continue growing my pc but it's flat out ruining it for me.

not trying to be a baby here, but what should i do. i'm really down on this right now, it's making me feel like i just wanna sell all my cards and that's he's really ruining the fun of being a super collector. i don't have money to spend on all the 1/1's that pop up, let alone stupid printing plates that i don't even care for but i'm supposed to get cause i'm the super collector.

the cup auto plates, sure i like those, but all the other cup plates, and 4th year dominion plates now.

he's making me overspend and he's overspending to steal them away from me. that's good for the sellers sure, but it's just ruining the fun of my pc.

when moltendurka was the boedker guy up until a year ago, i knew his collection at the time was much better than mine and i knew he would out pay me, so rather than bid him up, i just let him have the really rare stuff and we talked about the other cards so we knew which ones to bid on.

but that's not happening here. i'm not saying i'm more worthy than this guy competing against me, but like i've said again, it's ruining it for me and makes me wanna just give up and sell which sucks.

    thoughts/help?

The story of my life in the last year or so. Luckily, the Super Collector status carries a decent amount of sway in the online communities excluding e-Bay, so there is no reason that you cannot get first priority on anything you want from HI, SCF, Beckett, etc. I know that for a fact! On e-Bay, life is really tough, and the people bidding against you may be annoying as hell, but life goes on and really, what happens if you cannot win a 1/1? You aren't out $500+ and you are still as great a collector as ever. A collection would be just as impressive if someone could get all non-1/1s, as someone who gets nothing but the 1/1s. I know what you mean though, it really sucks when you lose out because of other people, and I too, have been frustrated on many an occasion.

Remember that YOU are the Super Collector though and remember to take that with you when negotiating on any cards. You see someone pull something in an online break? Go hyper-aggressive and let them know exactly who you are, what you want and what they want in return. You see a person post a sale-thread online, same story, let 'em know who you are and they will 85% of the time try and support the collector. You see an e-Bay auction, why be the honorable bear? Ask the seller if there is any chance that he/she could remove the listing early. Contrary to what the many whiners out there say, a seller can remove a listing early, as long as it is not in the final 24 hours of the auction. Contrary to what E-Bay says, they do not really seem to care if you deal offline (but your collecting competitors will really love it). The badge saved me on many an occasion after UM11 came out since so many other Irbe people were looking for the same stuff, but because of my attitude, my professionalism, my status, and my money (of course), I gained first priority on everything, paid everyone, and everyone was happy.

    Super collecting is OVERATED.

I add the same problem few years ago, tried to talk to the other person. He didnt care much at first until it beggan to be stupid. We even made a deal that i wasent bidding on Ultimate cards he was after, he was supposed to stay away from nice Cup cards.A shiny Gold rainbow pops up and this mofo pushed my bid to 150$ for a card that wouldnt sell for half that.

Numbers or % dont matter, collect what you like and pay how much you wanna pay for it.With what manufacturers are putting out there, 2-400 cards per player per year, its not like ANYONE will ever have every card of there PC player.

dr kicker - "overrated" ?? ouch!! go easy on us here. but i understand what you are saying. i don't think it's overrated, it's impressive but, yeah i guess i just have to let go the fact that i can't possibly get every single card.

Why are you so bummed? I tried this with Yzerman. Believe it or not I actually had 90% of every Yzerman card printed. 800 count boxes coming out the ying-yang. I am now selling it all, as I realize that I have over 10K tied up for no reason at all, when it could be used for something other than hoarding.

I knew I'd never get all the Yzerman, but it was fun to try..... there's no humanly possible way to get them all. Be satisfied with what you have.

If you know the guy who has the other large collection, sell yours to him at a huge profit and pocket the money, that or buy his, but for goodness sake, don't get in a funk over it.

I would be really careful with what you bid/pay for Boedker cards. The fact that there are 2 of you out there going all out is dramaticlly affecting the price. If one of you loses interest there might not be much of a market for these cards - if both of you lose interest look out below in terms of price.
