This doesn't apply to every other team/PG in the NBA?
Minny's FG% is 22nd in the league, which is horrible, especially consider that have Rubio who is somewhere in the 30s.
And saying his flashy style wouldn't fit the NBA versus saying he is overrated are two different statements.

Anyone who compares Rubio to Stockton needs to be examined. Not even close to Stockton on ANY level. Irving is the front runner for the R.O.Y., anyone who has seen him play will agree

I can understand your arguement there - however, I don't agree with it. He'll be an all-star in his rookie season, and is defintiely one of the best prospects when it comes to guards (and players in general) in the league today.
Lebron didn't revolutionize the SF position. Look at Scottie Pippen. Paul Pierce? Julius Erving? Reggie Miller? I could keep going on...as for Rose, sure, he's a better scorer than Rubio, and will likely hit many more clutch shots/carry his team than Rubio will - this season at least - but that still doesn't mean that Rose isn't playing outside of a typical PGs role - which has been the same role since the NBA came into existence. As for your arguement about the top scoring PGs in the league last year - what team won the title? The Dallas Mavericks, who have Jason Kidd as their starting PG, who averaged 7.9 PPG last season.
Wolves as the most overhyped in the league? They have 8 wins after 18 games this season. Last year? 16 wins in 82 games. They are bound to match last year's win total before the season is half over.
Agreed.
Agreed as well. Stockton is definitely one of the best PGs to ever step foot on a court, and comparing a rookie to him is not a good thing to do. However, he does have alot of potential, and could end up being a Stockton-like player, in terms of numbers, by the time his career is complete. Also, he is only 21, so the hype surrounding him can't be all that unwarranted. As for Irving, I actually haven't seen much of him yet, but I have heard/read about what he's doing, and I do agree that he is the frontrunner for ROY - for now - but Rubio is a close second, IMHO.

In my opinion, he'll be an All-Star based off the hype he's getting off the court and the name recognition moreso than his play. Again, he's played well but is not worthy of this much hype nor an All Star selection.
And yes, the Wolves are completely overhyped...you would think they're one of the top teams in the NBA; not en route to another mediocre season. That's great that they're improving, but they're still not close to being one of the NBA's top teams...the future looks bright, but ther are overhyped for being below .500. The Cavs are playing better and they aren't getting any hype...

The Cavs are also on a downfall because they recently lost Lebron, whereas the Wolves are on the mend, having missed the playoffs for 8 consecutive years. Also, the Cavs wins haven't come against any stellar teams - they've beaten the Pistons, Nets, Bobcats, Wolves, Suns, Bobcats (again) and Knicks...the team with the best record of those teams, as of today? The Wolves. On the flipside, look at the Wolves wins...Mavs (defending champs), Spurs, Wizards, Hornets, Kings, Pistons, Clippers, and Mavs (again)...4 of those teams have winning records...so the Wolves having more hype than the Cavs is just, IMO.

That's what I thought, and now everybody is upset because they're being proven wrong.... And yes, the Wolves with the exception of Love have been a HORRIBLE shooting team.

right they are in last place in their division but still 10 teams in the league worse then them
Look at NY with the stars.....0.38% while T-wolves 0.44

I agree with everything you say here.
But if he does make the all star game it's because of the hype not because of his play. 11-8 is not all-star numbers.

The Cavs are on a downfall? They lost 27 game in a row last season, and look what they've done to this point. The Mavs ("defending champs") are an entirely different team at this point and aren't really that great. How can you argue the Timberwolves deserve more hype than the Cavs when the Cavs flattened them IN MINNESOTA???? A 8-10 team isn't very impressive to me, as they won't make the playoffs, so why get the playoff team hype? Make sense? No... There are teams every single year that are on the rise that don't get the hype so that point doesn't mean anything. Only twice in the last five years has a player made the All Star team with 12 ppg or less (Jason Kidd and Rajon Rondo). Rondo had 11+ assists that season at its end (but had even more at the All Star break). What boba said, if he makes the all star team, it's all hype. It took him several games just to become a starter... not All Star material in the least.Last edited by CavFanatic31; 01-26-2012 at 04:22 PM.

The Cavs are rebuilding...so are the Wolves. I'm not saying that they shouldn't have more hype than the Cavs; neither team deserves ANY. They're teams that might be contenders in a few years and are lead by young players. They have potential, but are not contenders right now. Neither team has earned any hype, aside from Kevin Love. Rubio is only a big deal because he's a foreigner that isn't sucking and it's not hard to recognize that. And, like you said, the Cavs beat the Wolves. Justsayin'
Thank you for proving my point. They've won 44% of their games (that's less than half, for those of you playing at home) and are one of the more hyped teams in the league. New York gets an exception because of where they play, and their disappointing season so far. But a below .500 team doesn't deserve that much hype.
