Haha, you guys have been brain washed by all of the 1 on 1 game play and forgot what a team is. I'm not trying to insult you, but you guys aren't being very smart when comparing him to Chris Paul and Derrick Rose. Also, posting his points per game is foolish because that's not what his game is about. Look at John Stockton's stats and tell me why he is in the hall of fame?
You can be effective without putting the ball in the hoop

Like I said, he's playing well and doing a nice job of bringing the team together. But he's not putting up numbers compared to the hype. They're in last place in their division, so it's not like he's leading them to big win totals either. He's playing well, but is overrated for the hype surrounding him right now.

invest in the league pass, rubio is def worth the attention he gets from the media and fans, above avg court vision and just knows where his team is

Rubio is doing what a point guard should do - manage the offense. Point guards aren't supposed to be scorers - sure, it's nicewhen they are, but that's not supposed to be their main role. As much as everyone likes to see Derrick Rose and Chris Paul put up big scoring numbers, they are still playing outside of their intended role.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a very solid player that any coach would love to have on the team, I just don't think he will ever be an all-star caliber player.

15 years ago, SF were never the primary scorers on their teams. Their roles were to crash the boards, defend, and hit an occasional mid range jumper. Imagine if Lebron didn't revolutionize the poisition because his style of play wasn't the 'intended role.'
Things change, sometimes for worse, sometimes for better. If I wanted to win, I'd take Rose's scoring over Rubio's passing ANY DAY of the week.
No disrespect to Rubio, cause I love the guy and he's a great player, just I don't agree w/ what you're saying about what a PG 'should' be. The four top scoring PG last year were Rose, Westbrook, CP3, and Parker, all whose teams went to the playoffs.

It's actually a pretty good comparison, just Rubio on a much less extent.
I don't think either will ever live up to their huge hype and be all star or pro bowl players. Not saying they couldn't lead their teams to championships, but neither of them will be on the top of their positions.

The Timberwolves as a whole are the most over-hyped non-contender in the NBA.
They were last in the entire league last year, unlinke how most people think it was the Cavs. However they have added Rubio and changed up a few things with coaching, etc. I have seen three or four Timberwolves games and I don't understand the hype around Rubio. Sure he gets occasional highlights, but he tries for those types of plays constantly and usually fails or turns the ball over. He has a pretty poor shot as well. As far as running the offense well, I wouldn't take that too far. The team is nothing special in points per game, they're in the very middle of the league in offense. Comparing him to John Stockton 15 games into his rookie season is incredible lol... He is a very solid point guard and will probably be the best passing point guard in some years, but the fact that people are calling this kid an All Star, and that he should get R.O.Y. over Irving (a whole different story), makes no sense. Only twice in the last five years has a player made the All Star team with 12 ppg or less (Jason Kidd and Rajon Rondo).

I've seen just about every Wolves game this year, believe me, his assists numbers would be a lot higher if the team would make some of the shots he sets them up with. It's funny how a lot of people kept saying he is overrated, how his flashy style wouldn't fit the NBA. Seems to me so far he has proven everyone wrong.
