The problem is that the refractors will sell for a pittance on ebay, and then everyone will complain about how they couldn't get their money out of the box.

without a sick patch or an autograph, no one cares about AWESOME looking cards anymore.

And that is the problem with hockey collecting. In baseball and other sports the refractors can sell for good money without an auto or patch

So true. There was a time when the UD HG cards sold for a very nice premium, but that has all but stopped now and you can get them for less than $20 now.

Actually, it wasn't made up at all. It was posted on another hobby site. I asked the poster if his source was credible and he said it was his LCS owner who used to work at UD and he is usually bang on with his info

As for you, we all know you are a UD lover. We've heard the same garbage from you for years now. If anyone bashes your beloved company, you come running to their defense with absolutely nothing to back it up. It's getting really old, really fast

but cant we say the same thing about you? always bashing UD and your source came from someone else that no one knows from a LCS owner who no one knows who CLAIMS he worked at UD. sounds like a bunch of hoopla to me. until UD posts it on a site, i dont believe any of it. products get pushed back every single year, no biggie. if UD has their products posted to come out, i believe they will come out.

SPGU is all sticker autos... very easy for them to produce.

well except for all manufactured which are hard signed but yes considering the price a box is stickers dont belong in 100$+ boxes...

If topps gets into cards, it wouldn't be bad at all.

Things like triple threads would be sick in hockey!

But boxes like finest and chrome are pretty much whats already out.

I don't see how Topps could get into the Hockey market without Panini and UD scaling back their products which I don't think could happen if they wanted to stay in business (at least UD anyway). 3 licensees just means more products. Too many products means none of them will sell well.

I'm simply sharing information I've heard. Information that I think would have a huge impact on the hobby. How is this bashing UD?

I bust a crapload of UD products (along with Panini and ITG). If I am not happy with something I have purchased, I have the right to voice my opinion. I don't recall being overly tough on UD compared to Panini but if you have proof of my UD "bashing" then by all means show me

As for the source, I can easily post a link to the thread in question. It's from another hobby board so not sure that will fly here or not. If it's ok, then I'll gladly post it

I for one would love to see bowman chrome or topps chrome hockey complete with the refractors and parallels. I LOVE those cards

Couldn't agree more. You'd have to think the card companies would like that too, being able to produce highly desired cards without using a jersey or getting an autograph. You could argue that Certified sort of did that with their Mirror cards, still not the same though.

There's been lots of cases of this over the years.

    Thinking of this season's release:

    SPX Shadowbox
    Black Diamond Championship Rings
UD Series 1/2 'Day with the Cup'
    Score SP'd Varients
    BTP Masks
    Almost anything acetate

Those are just a few off the top of my head.

Inserts / Chase cards..... with the right design, the right theme, and the right player content do very well. Parallels, not nearly as much as they used to.

Perhaps it's time for the return to the Tiffany mentality of 1990-91.

In 1990-91 the Topps Company produce "Tiffany" for two issues:

    1. Topps Tiffany
    2. Bowman Tiffany

Only 400 Cases of each were produced. The shortest print run in regular issued cards since cards began and were manufactured as such.

I wouldn't mind seeing cards take a turn in this direction. Upper Deck tried it in 1997 with Diamond Vision, then the next year with UD3, then with 2 Issues "UD Challenge For The Cup, and the highly collectible UD Stanley Cup Champs of 01-02. The Diamond Vision cards didn't always catch on with everyone and the UD3 issued Parallel is still more confusing than the 97-97 Leaf Fractal Matrix Parallel.

Both UD Diamond Vision and UD3 were not produced in great quantities, they were however headed in the right direction.

Now when we take a look at the success of 01-02 UD Stanley Cup Champs, wow, those are Uber hard to find, even the base cards, They had a wonderful Jersey shaped in the form of the actual Stanley Cup, and today remain highly collectible.

UD needs to take a look and re-visit the "Stanley Cup Champs" mentality with fewer total cases produced and an actual rush to collect the cards.

This year, UD 1 French was really limited
