Having multiple cards signed IP
I'm sure this topic has been brought up more than once, but I'm curious as to why people want multiple cards signed. I've noticed some people on here and in person have the books with 4,5,8, 10, up to 23 cards lined up to get autographed. Some people do this multiple times to the same player within the same season.
Do you think that you might be the reason why some ignore or try to prevent signing autographs. What benefit does it do for you? What do you think the players think about your 10 cards to be signed? I can somewhat understand trading, but you probably don't have that many traders.
I'm more of a baseball and 8x10 and probably because I can afford it, so I understand if you can only afford cards.
I'm not here trying to bash anyone. Just want to see why you do what you do.

To be honest, I have wondered the same thing to some extent. I personally try to get as many cards of a player signed, but all different cards. I pull all my cards of a player first, and put them in order of favorite on down. What I wonder is why people get up to 20 of the SAME card signed. To me, that seems like a red flag to a player. Any insight from those who do this?

A lot of people that graph minor league teams do this.

I get cards signed at Bronco games by Alumni. At each game, they will have four or five ex players at a table to sign, right after they have a couple of cheerleaders sign.
I get an email on Thursdays before the game, letting me know who's planned for the signing table. So of course, I grab a card of each player (if I have one) to get signed.
Over the years, I have had a few of them sign duplicate cards. Honestly, I doubt any of them realize that I am getting a second identical card signed. I don't bring stacks of cards for each player. Only one.
My goal is to build a page of each of the players who sign over the years. Just like I would for any current player. Although I have to buy those....
It would be great if I could manage a page for these guys with all different cards, but some of the old guys only have 5 or 6 cards total. Some only have one.
Never sold one. I have given away a few duplicates though.
For he most part, I don't really put much value on these cards. It's not like we get Elway or TD ever, lol. Eddie Mac was supposed to come one game last year, but he was a no show.
They are valuable to me, but I doubt any of them are worth more than a buck or two on the market. A few of them might bring 5 bucks if I were ever to try to sell them.
No chance of that ever happening though.

I try and get as many cards signed, why not? if someone is willing to sign them ok, if they only want to sign 1 or 2 I am fine with that. The people that do 1 or 2, I only put 1 or 2 cards on the sheet. My philosophy is if I have a card(s) of someone, why not try to get them signed, they are just going to sit in my box. I do 50/50's for people and I am working on multiple sets. The players that dont sign or dont like to sign are like that usually just because they dont want to sign, not because someone asked them to sign a ton of cards. Just my 2 cents.

I've had debates about this with people on here, before. I have no problem with having multiple things or cards signed by a player, in a collection. I do. The problem is when people, like you said, do 5, 10 up to 20 at one time, before a game. That's just inconsiderate to the other graphers and the player(s). Why just not get 1, especially since you go to games often.
I go to Vikings training camp every year. I bring multiple cards for players, but I only ever ask/get signed 1 at a time. I may leave with multiples of a player, but it's always cause I go for 4 days to a week and that player signed multiple times. I always only get 1 at a time though. And if I don't get all of a player signed, I don't fret, unlike these people who get pissed cause a player would "only" do two per or signed 6 of 12.
I hate people who ask for multiples, cause I was personally affected by it at training camp last year. McNabb signed after a meeting and this couple used the fact that they had two babies to get 4 things (each parent and kid) signed by Donavan. After he signed for them, I was 2 people away and he left. Did those two babies really need those McNabb autos? No, niether did I, but I would appreciate (and understand) them a lot more, as someone of an age that has a concept on things around me and a collector. Obviously McNabb didn't work out here, but he is still a future HOFer and I would have loved to add him to my collection.

That situation happens very rarely, I have not seen very many times where someone stops signing because they signed multiples for another person. Either a person is going to sign multiples or they are only going to sign 1 or 2. If a player is willing to sign multiples what is the problem? If they dont want to sign multiples then they dont. Perfect example, earlier this season I had 10 cards of Tyler Moore, He came over and said "hey whats up, I will sign a couple of these for ya" he signed 4 of them and life went on, he went to the next person and signed 3 for them so I dont see what the big deal is, but I think this topic is one that each person will have their own opinion on.
