To say it another way, we can't make it less expensive for the old and sick unless we take the money from the young and healthy. Not really your classic definition of "insurance".

To say it another way, "A country is only as strong as its weakest citizens."

To say it another way, "A country is only as strong as its weakest citizens."

So the plan is to make the weakest citizens dependent on the government to make them stronger? Has that ever worked?

Here we have Senators riding in on golf carts for the rally to support illegal immigrants on the "closed" (for everyone else) National Mall.

And in the meantime, 21 lucky Americans get to go to Federal Court after visiting a national park.

Nearly two dozen people have been issued citations for entering Grand Canyon National Park after a partial government shutdown forced its closure.
Grand Canyon Chief Ranger Bill Wright says some people have been caught at the South Rim, on trails, attempting rim-to-rim hikes or trying to sneak in through dirt roads.

All of the citations will be handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Wright says each of the 21 citations issued as of Monday has a mandatory order to appear in federal court.

So the plan is to make the weakest citizens dependent on the government to make them stronger? Has that ever worked?

It is called an Ineptocracy. It is a form of government where people who are the least prepared to be leaders are elected by those who are least likely to be successful contributors to society and the elected government rewards the voters by taking the fruits of labor from those who are successful and gives it to those who are not successful as a reward for their loyalty. The net result is a system of failure that leeches off of the successful until they fail too.

And no, it doesn't work, it never has and it never will. Any system that placates failure, pacifies mediocrity and vilifies success is doomed to failure.

Perhaps the Washington Monument Strategy employed by #PresidentStompyFoot is not working as expected since his approval rating has plummeted to 37% in an AP poll.

No. The plan is to support the weakest to strengthen the country as a whole. It works all over the world. Look around you.

Characterize it however you like. Look at the rankings around the world. Is your system working?

By "used to", you mean premiums were not rising at record levels and your country was leading the world according to WHO rankings?
