Looks legit - may have been a sheet-cut piece given how sharp and bright it still looks.

But it's got the shoulder dot and the copyright logo on the back looks right.

Just so you know the dot and blue lines can and are faked. best thing would be to compare it to another 79/80 OPC card, otherwise if it is real in that condition its an easy PSA 8 but looks way more like a 9. so its a $2000(PSA 8) to $5000(PSA 9) card. Or a reprint 0$ BE CAREFUL.

I don't know why but the cartoon guys hair just doesn't look right to me and the oil dot looks too centered and perfect to me from what I have seen of Gretzky rookies.

Ask for a 600 DPI scan to see if it was printed with a plate or a bubble jet printer.

If the card is authentic OPC, it was printed with OPCs plates. The plates will leave a straight edge around the black borders, Gretzky's name, and the Oilers logo. If it is not authentic, most likely printed with a bubble jet printer, the edges will be dotted. I may have some images on my home PC that illustrate this. I'm not sure if there are fakes out there printed with plates but if it this card is printed with a bubble jet it is surely fake. I purchased a fake Gretzky once and a KSA guy walked me through many of the signs. Paypal got me my money back after it was verified a fake. I learned that if it is too good to be true it probably is. My question with this card in this beautiful condition is why wouldn't the current owner have it graded and multiply the value of the card before selling it?
