How do people fake patches? I'm not that big of a chaser of sick patches since I don't have the money to chase those Red Wings cards.
I tried taking out a jersey of a crappy retail card and then putting it back in, just wondering how people do this, and you could tell it was tampered with. Mind you it was my first and only time doing it and I was not taking my time and working with finesse. I was just curious.
Just seems like the windows that the patch is placed into would assist in tamper-proofing the card. For example the card listed above. Very easy to damage the die-cut of that particular layer.
I have a hard time distinguishing where certain patches come from a lot of the time, except for Red Wings patches. It's just beyond me how people do this for profit. It sucks that fakes are in every hobby. I've dealt a lot with silver so I know all too well that things are faked in apparently every hobby.Master List: Hidden Content

Wow that Dr. Bob guy is making a killing on his sales too. Wonder how many of his listings were altered cards.
Also seems like he damaged the auto a little on that Radulov. Your original photo shows a clean auto but the eBay listing auto seems a little scratched or something.
Cant believe this guy gets away with this.

I cant say if its faked or not, but it wouldn't be a logical choice to fake a patch on a card like that. And the sale price wasn't very high. A lot of work for little reward. Just my opinion

why do you blaim him ? not his fault hes probably buying tons of cards at shows etc and then maybe resells them dont see why he is the badguy here. I mean are you supposed to investigate every card you have or what do you suggest someone that sells tons of cards should do then? blaim the card companies instead if anyone.

So fake! The NHL logo didn't look like that in 02-03. They didn't change it from orange to silver, and the letters slanting the other way until after the lockout a couple years later. Jeeze, if you're gonna fake something have half a brain. Moron.
Edit: I'm not calling the seller a moron, he may be completely unaware. I'm insulting the doorknob that faked it.Last edited by subban7677; 05-10-2014 at 01:25 PM.
