Leave it to you to take an analogy to it's stupidest logical conclusion.
Looking both ways greatly decreases your chances of getting hit.
Looking where you walk GREATLY decreases your chances of falling off a cliff.
Not petting a lion GREATLY DECREASES your chances of getting eaten by said lion.
Owning a gun doesn't change the chances of your house being broken into. It simply gives you the idea you can fight off someone who does. That is a fear based move. You're not afraid of crossing the street or cliff edges because you know you can see it. You have a gun because you're afraid of what you can't see.
Guns for hunting? Sure! Guns for protection? Sure, if you're really so afraid you NEED to arm youraelf with one, just don't deny you're afraid.

Never understood the whole home defense thing. If you have children you should not have a gun readily accessible. I have a couple of guns and use them for hunting deer and pheasants and for some trap shooting. I don't think I'd be able to get the shotgun out of the safe in time to scare off a robber.

weve never had our guns in a safe, growing up though i knew not to touch them.
those who have accidents involving children getting ahold of guns is attributed to either bad parenting or Darwinism

My guns aren't FOR home defense. I shoot often as a hobby as well as hunt. I'm just saying that having guns in my home is an advantage I would personally prefer to utilize should the need ever arise. If someone comes in my home (it happens to people who think it never will A LOT more than you apparently know), I'm not looking for a fair fight. You can call that afraid all you want. I disagree is all.

That's great, except that it changes nothing. A person is just as likely to come through your door. You may blow them away, you may hit your kid in the head. You won't know until it happens.

same thought process here,i will not have a loaded firearm in my house,both my rifles take clips so if i can i will but i do have a couple bayonets/knives strategically place though
