Today I got autographs from former Chicago Bears wide receiver Rashied Davis, at an appearance at Walmart in Cicero, IL. Mr. Davis signed two 8x10's, and 1 card, for free. I was unable to obtain a Bears card (he is in Topps Total), but I got a 2005 Arena Football League card signed, which Davis played in before joining the Chicago Bears.

This afternoon, I went to the LAP Chicago All-Star Softball Challenge at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium, in Schaumburg, IL. This is the 2nd annual event, which pits former members of the Chicago Cubs versus the Chicago White Sox in a softball game, and proceeds go to charity. There are a lot of former players there, and some sign and some don't. I was on the Cubs side, so all of my successes were from former Cubs players.
I was able to get autographs from former Cub Corey Patterson on 3 cards, Jon Lieber on 4 cards, Adam Greenberg on 2 cards, Angel Guzman on 2 cards, Steve Trout on 1 card, Ryan Dempster on 1 card, Brian McRae on 2 cards, and the highlight, honorary captain, the legend and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Billy Williams came over and signed 2 cards. He also got an at-bat in the game, and had a hit which drove in 2 runs.
Wasn't able to get former Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano (only signed for a few people from the dugout), Fred McGriff (signed for almost no one), Lee Smith, Jacque Jones, or Cliff Floyd, and none of the White Sox.
I also entered the charity raffle, and they gave away a signed jersey from every player in the game, so quite a few raffle winners, and I won an autographed jersey from former White Sox Tony Phillips!

Sounds like the charity event was chock full of good players. I need Brian McRae and Cliff Floyd for my PC. McRae is in the 1997 Fleer set (currently have 324/500 cards signed all in person), and I need Floyd on my 2008 World Series Tampa Bay Rays bat (with about 6 other guys I don't have). Sometimes guys pop up in spring training here in Florida.

McRae signed for everyone, I actually need his father on a 1987 Topps, but he wasn't there. McRae signed 17 cards for the guy next to me!

This morning, I went to a promotional appearance for Coppertone sunglass lenses, featuring the soccer legend Mia Hamm. Ms. Hamm signed two cards, 2 color 8x10's, and 4 promotional 8x10's (she personalized the first two to my daughters who were present), All for free. They also took a photo which they instantly printed while you were there. This is my 5th Olympic gold medalist that I have met, I believe (Phelps, Gabby Douglas, Kristi Yamaguchi, Shannon Miller)
Part II, coming later!
