Brittany Maynard, Advocate for Death With Dignity, Ends Her Life
"Brittany Maynard, the 29-year-old woman who became the face of the death with dignity movement since she was diagnosed with brain cancer, has ended her life, according to an organization she worked with closely.Maynard took lethal medication prescribed by a doctor and died late Saturday, "as she intended -- peacefully in her bedroom, in the arms of her loved ones," Sean Crowley, a Compassion & Choices spokesman, said in a statement today.
"We're sad to announce the passing of a dear and wonderful woman, Brittany Maynard. She passed peacefully in her bed surrounded by close family and loved ones," Compassion & Choices, a non-profit that works to improve care and expand the choices for people at the end of their lives, said on its Facebook page."

Why does anyone even care?
It's HER life, she is the master of HER body....let her do whatever the hell she wants with it.
She was in pain, she was suffering....and she was gonna die anyways.
Seriously, this shouldn't even be a topic for debate in a supposedly FREE society.

Do you have to be so ignorant? My mother found out she had a form of dementia around her 58th birthday. She actually died at the age of 70 last year (they starved her to death). By the time she hit her 61st birthday she was legally incompetent and unable to make the choice this girl made. First she lost her ability to think, then to talk, then to walk, then to eat. All over a span of 12 years.
This girl was given a medical prognosis by her doctors. One that she was seeing played out as time passed. There was no hope. Some people believe in science and act accordingly. Some people are not so selfish as to put their loved ones through a long protracted death and choose to go out on their own terms as much as they can.
This girl is courageous to a level most can't and never will comprehend. Show her some respect.

Same reason why news stations don't report suicides on the news. We have a bridge near bye where people jump off all the time. Never reported. You just hear it happened through the locals who see the emergancy response vehicles under the bridge.
If you give people the right to do so, then people are going to do it. Terminally ill or not.
I'm all for terminally ill people to go out when they're ready, because they should celebrate their life with their friends and families.
I'm against the druggy who is down on life, can't get a job, cut off from government assistance wanting to take the coward way out.

this is in my state about a law i voted for
when i voted for this law it was people like your mother and people i have seen die a ugly death from cancer that i thought about
this girl was just at the grand canyon a couple days before she killed herself on vacation,she didnt try doctor treatment,she didnt try operation,she didnt try,
this was straight up suicide not death with dignity that i voted for
