Is this worth a neutral? Bought a card off ebay and was charged $5CAD for shipping. Got card today in a double PWE with a $1.20CAD stamp on it. It came through in ok condition, but this just seems sketchy to me. What are your thoughts?

We used to be able to rate shipping prices with stars before. It doesn’t work like that anymore. I hate when sellers make money on shipping. I don’t know how he ended u shipping with a 1.20 stamp, it’s usually 1.90$. I wouldn’t give him a neutral but I would contact him and talk.

Lots of sellers are charging a little higher than postage stamps which is normal in my opinion. Buyers should know they are not paying just for the postage stamp but they are also paying for the materials needed to properly package the card, fuel surcharge to the post office (gas not cheap) and labor charge. These little things add up.

I completely agree with all of this. I will also add that when I did my eBay store fulltime, I had an employee that handled shipping orders. I had to pay him to work. Where do you think that money comes from? And I will close by saying this, you saw and agreed to the shipping price when you made the purchase. So why is it now a negative thing if the seller was able to ship the item for less? Sellers get charged twice in a transaction, once by eBay and then again by PayPal. This also applies to the shipping charges they collect not just the items themselves. The costs and hidden costs it takes to run a retail business are staggering and completely misunderstood by people that have never ran their own retail business.

more info on the new permanent GTC
The listing duration for all fixed price listings will be Good 'Til Cancelled
Starting in mid-March 2019, the listing duration for all new fixed price listings on eBay will be Good 'Til Cancelled. Existing fixed price listings that are not Good 'Til Cancelled will continue until they sell or end at their specified duration. If a short-duration fixed price item is relisted, the duration will be set to Good 'Til Cancelled upon relist.
Good 'Til Cancelled listings renew automatically every 30 days unless your item sells before that timeframe. We charge an insertion fee every 30-day period. Good 'Til Cancelled listings count toward your monthly zero insertion fee listings. Fee amounts are based on the terms in effect when the listing goes live and when it renews.
With Good 'Til Cancelled listings you can take advantage of the out-of-stock feature. If your listing reaches a quantity of zero, we will show it as out-of-stock to buyers. By using out-of-stock, your listing will retain its purchase and search history, so that when you replenish your stock, buyers can easily find your listing. Learn more about the out-of-stock feature.
Why is eBay making this change?
Today, over 80% of fixed price listings on eBay are Good 'Til Cancelled. Because of their longer duration, Good 'Til Cancelled listings potentially have greater exposure to buyers and may be more likely to sell. Other benefits of Good 'Til Cancelled listings include:
- Improved SEO
- Listings keep their interested buyers
- Out-of-stock feature
- No seller action required to relist items
- End listings at any time and relist when you want to
- Simplified selling flow
- Retained sales history for multi-quantity listings, which improves search rankings

I never said Negative, I asked about a Neutral rating. I was fine paying $5CAD for shipping as this is a normal shipping cost that I have paid. However, when I pay $5CAD for shipping, I expect it to come in a bubble mailer with some protection. When I pay $1 or less for shipping a $5 card, I might expect to see if come in a PWE.

This was in 2 PWE, there were no materials. It was a toploader inside one envelope, sealed and folded on itself inside another PWE.

I was not saying "negative" as referring to feedback, I was referring to how you have a "negative" feeling about the matter. When I sell, I get the exact opposite problem. I will not ship without it being in a bubble mailer and has tracking info. I don't care if it is a $1 card or a $100 card. All are shipped in the same manner. I have people think I charge too much. That I ought to ship it for the price of a stamp. Everything I use to ship is not even fully covered by the shipping fee I charge, yet people still complain. If the card was delivered in a timely manner, and in good condition, then I feel the seller deserves positive feedback. That is all he promised to do when he listed the item for sale. It is like McDonalds charging $1 for a soft drink. When you find out it cost them less than 10˘, which includes the price of the cup, should you now feel cheated? Because shipping costs now have fees with eBay and PayPal, it really is just part of the total purchase now.

Ya'll may want to add this guy to your eBay block list. Bought 2 cards separately, paid, claimed they didn't arrive a month later, zero communication. Ebay sided WITHIN MINUTES without any communication to me even though I responded to the claim instantly. Just too scammy for my liking and EVERYTHING else I sold at that time arrived just fine and this is the first time in at least a couple years since a card went "missing" in the mail.

Thanks for the info. I just noticed the warning box about this from eBay yesterday when I relisted a few items. This is when I relist on eBay.com only. I did not notice this policy on eBay.ca, can any Canadian sellers tell me when they will be forcing this for the Canadian listings?
For my eBay.com listings, as far as I can tell, my best option for now is to list my monthly items for 10 days auction-style with the best offer option. My items will obviously not be listed for 20 days out of the month. I use the free listings only, so i do not want something to be automatically relisted and i get charged.
Rant/Comment: They are at 80% for GTC and they really care about this. Really?!? They just have to have every listings this way for the potential profit. Leave us 20%ers alone :)
