Thanks for the info. I just noticed the warning box about this from eBay yesterday when I relisted a few items. This is when I relist on eBay.com only. I did not notice this policy on eBay.ca, can any Canadian sellers tell me when they will be forcing this for the Canadian listings?

For my eBay.com listings, as far as I can tell, my best option for now is to list my monthly items for 10 days auction-style with the best offer option. My items will obviously not be listed for 20 days out of the month. I use the free listings only, so i do not want something to be automatically relisted and i get charged.

Rant/Comment: They are at 80% for GTC and they really care about this. Really?!? They just have to have every listings this way for the potential profit. Leave us 20%ers alone :)

I felt the 80% number is really high too. So it could 80% of listings but not 80 % of users

Unbelievable. Buy it back and claim it didn’t arrive! Haha. Joking. Two wrongs don’t make a right. eBay should help you somehow. Might just give your money back that you had to refund. I’d call the cops too. Not sure what they can do but clearly some theft and or fraud happening.

Is there a new kind of bidding bot on the scene? Twice now in 2 days (on mobile app) I've been told "congratulations" on winning the item, and when I proceed to checkout I'm told "cannot find item in cart" and when I refresh the item, somehow there is a bid one bump up from mine that is now the winner. Surely someone else has experienced this/has some insight? I've been on ebay a long time now, decades almost, I've never seen a "congratulations" followed by winding up outbid.

I’m just wondering if you saw a message that said congratulations you have the winning bid and then before it ended someone else sniped it. Were you bidding when you saw that message or had you bid earlier.

Nope. Auction ran down in time and ended, and I received the message congratulation you won the item. It prompted me to go to checkout.

That's why this is strange. I understand sniping, I've done it, I've had it done to me. This seems a little bit different because the system is telling me I've won.

Ebay can be glitchy at times. I'd say it's a one-off.

That’s odd. I read about this somewhere else. I think HI. But never heard an explanation.
Hopefully you can find the item again and win it.

It has happened to me also with the app. I get a notification that I have won the a couple minutes later, I get another one that I lost!
