Profitting off Sean Taylors death
Ok, I am going to start by saying that if this thread turns into a flame party, or a bunch of people going off on individuals, I will get a mod to close it. I want to know what everyone thinks about the people who are putting Sean Taylor stuff up on ebay at extravagant prices, to essentially profit off of his death. I will admit I thought about it, but then I realized that (to me) the concept seemed repugnant, and I wouldnt do it. Curious as to what other people think...

Ok, I see your points, going off on someone who wants to pick up some Sean Taylor cards is a bit much (i read the same thread you mentioned in your post, btw)
I guess I just have a problem with the people who want to pick stuff up just to turn a profit, makes me wonder if they think about the people involved, or just the $$$

yeah i am not defending people who want to make a profite but i am saying leave people alone who just want his cards for collecting purposes. Redskins fans are nuts and it really is a death they should be keeping this non mature stuff to them self

Hi Ed,
I will chime in on this thread as well. I personally look at it like this.
The Sean Taylor incident is VERY unfortunate and I personally wish it or anything close to it upon nobody. But we had no control over what happened to him(or at least I hope not). We are still collectors in this. We paid for his card/s in some way shape or form. If the card is hot, we sell our card. Just because he passed away doesn't mean we shouldn't be collectors.
That is just my 2 cents on the situation. Like I said before, I personally don't wish a fatal injury upon a single person on this earth. But when you have no control on something, why should it change who you are.

i tend to agree, although its hard to say how a death will affect a certain person- they might take it harder than someone else would. for example, im a diehard browns fan, but i dont think i would be emotionally upset if a browns player was killed. however, i might get a bit annoyed if someone wanted that players cards, just so he could sell them on ebay for a quick buck. Maybe the real issue here is that skins fans hate to see profit based on the loss of a player. I mean, Im all for selling cards when a guy is hot on the field, to maximize profit, I just cant see doing it when someone has died- profitting on a tragedy just rubs me the wrong way

I certainly respect a persons decision on the issue as well Ed. And if a person on here wishes to trade for his cards to resell for profit, well thats a whole new ball game IMHO.

thats what Im mostly saying Jay- I have no problem if people want to grab his cards so that they can have cards of a player who is no longer with us. Nor does it completely bother me if someone sells their Taylor cards now, while he is, in effect, hot.
But people who are now calling for his cards with the SOLE intention of reselling to make money based on a terrible situation, those people bother me
