Taking a break from his favorite passtime of suspending players, NFL Commisioner Roger Goodell approaches the podium.....
"With the 8th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Tennessee State Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie."
NFL Combine Stats:
Height:6'2"
Weight: 182
40 Yard: 4.33 seconds (4th among CB's)
Vertical: 38.5" (1st among CB's)
Broad Jump: 10'11" (tied for 1st among CB's)
3 Cone Drill: 6.74 seconds (tied for 1st among CB's)
60 Yard Shuttle: 11.06 seconds (1st among CB's)
College Stats: 39 starts - 128 tackles - 25 passes defended - 11 INT's - 4 defensive TD's
Mike Mayock commentary: "This is a great pick for the Ravens. Rodgers-Cromartie has all of the physical skills to make an impact in the NFL. He fills a need on the Ravens roster and has the play-making ability that their defense is known for. In college, opposing quarterbacks completed just 34% of the passes they threw at Rodgers-Cromartie and he intercepted 11 and defended 25 of the 161 passes thrown at him. The Ravens really needed to upgrade their passing game but taking any of the available QB's or WR's with the #8 pick would have been a reach. Rodgers-Cromartie fills a need and upgrades a passing defense that was ranked 20th in the NFL in 2007. Look for him to push Samari Rolle for the starting spot opposite Chris McAllsiter this season."
Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome comments: "We are very happy with this pick. Our run defense was #2 in the NFL but we slid to #20 against the pass this season. Dominique gives us another playmaker in the secondary to complement Chris McAllister and Ed Reed. We looked at the #8 pick as a chance to improve our offenses ability to score more points or improve our defenses ability to allow less points. Since there were no QB's available that we would take with the #8 pick, we decided we should take the CB that we had on the top of our list, and we are excited to get him."

I will kindly disagree with you on this, the Dline is the one thing that works for New England right now Ty Warren, Vince Wilfork, and Richard Seymour are 3 of the best downlineman in the NFL to have in a 3-4 scheme, and Jarvis Green isnt a bad 4th, the Patriots will be addressing Defensive back or LB is Gholston is there for them

Agree here, I see the Pats looking for a CB.
The Bengals select Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
Height: 6-2. Weight: 241.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
Benchx225: . Vertical .
Projected Round: Top 15 Pick.
Keith Rivers did not run in Indianapolis because of his ankle injury.
Rivers made a number of tremendous plays at Washington, including one tackle where he chased down Huskies quarterback Jake Locker from a few yards away and pulled him down before he had a chance of crossing the first-down line.
The Bengals need major help in the Front seven and Keith Rivers is the logical choice here with all of the top Defensive Linemen off the board.
Wouldn't be surprised to see them sneak in a pick of Rashard Mendenhall here, but IMO the smart pick is on the defense.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell approaches the podium and announces, "With the 10th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select Auburn linebacker Quentin Groves"
NFL Combine/Pro Day Results:
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 259
40 Yard: 4.53 seconds (4.46 at Pro Day)
Bench Press: 30 reps (225 pounds)
Vertical: 29.5" (35" at Pro Day)
Broad Jump: 10'0"
3 Cone Drill: 7.31 seconds
20 Yard Shuttle: 4.42 seconds
College Stats: 38 games - 122 tackles - 26 sacks
Mike Mayock commentary: "Groves has been shooting up several team's draft boards since the combine. Prior to the combine he was considered a late 1st or early 2nd round prospect due to a foot injury he recieved in a game versus Florida. His performance at the combine proved he was fully recovered from that injury and had some teams ranking him ahead of Keith Rivers as the best linebacker in the draft. Back in March the Patriots had him in for an individual workout which would seem to indicate that they were considering using the 7th overall pick on him."
"Many thought the Saints would go with a cornerback here but I think this is a fantastic pick for the Saints. The Saints are expecting Mike McKenzie to be 100% by the start of the season and they signed cornerback Randall Gay away from the Patriots. Add in the free agent addition of Jason David and 2nd round pick Usama Young from last season and the cornerback position looks pretty solid. What they needed was pass rush and that is exactly what they get with Groves."
"Groves played both defensive end and outside linebacker in college and he will have a shot at both spots in New Orleans as well. Left end Charles Grant hasn't posted more than 6 sacks since 2004 and Mark Simoneau is their best option for ROLB. Regardless of which position he ends up filling, he upgrades the pass rush significantly and as we all know, better pass rush equals better pass defense."
"Now that the Saints have adressed their most pressing need of a pass rusher, expect them to go defensive tackle in the second round. 2004 first round pick Johnathan Sullivan has been a huge disappointment and last years starting combination of Brian Young and Hollis Thomas produced just 54 tackles and 6 sacks. Expect the Saints to use the 10th pick in the second round on a powerful run-stuffer who can collapse the pocket like North Carolina's Kentwan Balmer or Notre Dame's Trevor Laws."
Saints Head Coach Sean Payton Comments: "We are very excited to get Quentin. We have worked hard the last few seasons to upgrade our offense and fill it with playmakers and we really wanted to add a playmaker to our defense this time around. Quentin gives us the ability to pressure the quarterback on every down and give our secondary a better chance to make plays. His ability to blitz, play run defense and react quickly to various situations makes our defense much more versatile and effective. I look forward to getting him in training camp and working him into the defense."

With the eleventh pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select....
WR DeSean Jackson, California
The Buffalo Bills select Jackson because he was one of the most exciting players in college football once he got the football in his hands. The Bills are in desperate need of a playmaker and are very slim at Wide Out. DeSean can single handedly change all that.
