a few things:
in the 2000 election, they recounted 9 times. in each one bush won. how many times were they required to recount for people to say it wasn't stolen? Until gore came out ahead? it that point could bush ask for 10-12 recounts himself? Don't give me he stole the election.
The reason Saudi arabia wasn't targeted is that Bush doesn't want us paying $20 a gallon. War with Saudi means no foreign oil. We aren't allowed to drill here so we are stuck. Do I agree, no. I think you punish the wrong-doer. However, that is where politics play in.
I could list a ton of things that I don't agree with during bush's presidency. Doesn;t make him evil or that he stole elections. Don't even get me started on the things democrats have done to "win" elections.

wow you want a cookie for that hitler in germany... if you know how to read he said that hitler was born in AUSTRIA but moved to germany to take over there... you're saying we should go to saudia arabia because that is where those terrorists are legal citizens even though they are like hitler and are in another country...

08-30-2008, 12:05 AM #23For example, Hitler was from Austria, but we attacked Germany.
thats what he said...he was the president of germany, why would we attack austria?
and if you're handing out cookies, i'll take chocolate chip
why was everything about saudi arabia censored in the 9/11 commission?

aw00d05 is correct in what I was saying.
You said that we should invade Saudi Arabia because that's where most of the hi-jackers were from. I responded by saying that it makes no sense to attack the birthplace of whomever we fight, in this case terrorists. It would make much more sense to invade the countries in which there are numerous terrorist training camps which were discovered in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
I regret making this analogy now, but what I was saying is that attacking Saudi Arabia because of the 9/11 hi-jackers, is like attacking Austria because of Hitler. The training and the planning occured elsewhere. Hopefully, we're all straight now.
P.S. Hitler was no president. He was definitely a tyranical chancellor/dictator.

I understand that visiting Ground Zero was nothing that no other president wouldn't do, which is what I'm trying to say. You may disagree with him, or even "hate" him...yes, hate a man you don't know...but to say he's evil (which you, yourself may not have done, but MANY have) is ridiculous.
I think back to the courage it took for him to throw out the opening pitch in Yankee Stadium later in the fall. He had a HUGE target on him, and I thought that took a lot of guts to suit up in a bullet-proof vest and walk out in the open to start the country's most beloved game. I can't forget the magic.

I also will never forget this. Not knocking on him at all for visiting Ground Zero and throwing out the pitch. For every good deed, there's a failure.

5 years later...

Appearance is in no way a reason to decide whether or not to like one's politics. Im not saying that was your intention, but that is how I see that post. We all have our bad photos. This is proof that our leader is human like the rest of us. He may not be the best public speaker or use the best grammar but that is in no way a reason to discount his actions.
As president your job is to lead the country, protect the country, do everything to make the country as great as possible. In a time of crisis/fear do you really want your leader picking up rubble? This action was symbolic to indicate that George Bush appreciates the hard work of the men and women at the Ground Zero site. Having George bush stay and clean up is wrong. He is the commander in chief. Do you realize how easy of a target he is on the job site? If the man with control of the military, goes down because he's picking up re-bar instead of preventing terror attacks what kind of message does that send to the international community?

Ah
The mission accomplished was not "the war" itself but several smaller missions
-Accomplished was the goal of liberating the Iraqi people form a dictatorship
-Accomplished was the suppressing of future terror attacks on American Soil by targeting terrorist bases within Iraq and Afghanistan
The "war" that is continuing now is not what George Bush was referencing in his speech. The war now is a fight against violence between sunnii, shiites, and other sects of the Iraqi society. The full intention of American forces now is to suppress the violence amongst the sects because the Iraqis cannot yet do it themselves. The mission accomplished speech on the carrier can hardly be called relevant to current fighting today because the intentions of the fighting are different.
