Mike, you have grown adults on this site, and you have some who are barely teenagers, and i'm flat telling you, i know what's what, but maybe some 14 year old kid won't know, because some guy decided to try and say, "oh i have no clue why that's even there, i have 100% feedback", i've talked to at least 3 msf's on this site who have tried the "gosh, i don't even know why that's there, how bout we send same time" and every time i tell them i dont care why its there or not, your sending 1st
Ok, this has nothing to do with the conversation at hand. Wether I agree with your comments or not this really having nothing to do with leaving negs for not shipping on time.
There have been a few slow shippers lately - however, I think 3 days may be a little short. Sometimes things happen - I think at a bare minimum that this should be 3 BUSINESS days, or at the very least not counting Sunday. The other issue I can see is on fairly low end trades, where you may not actually physically goto the post office, the postmark COULD wind up being later than the package was sent out. Just some things to consider - Mike
I agree. Business days. I also see your point on white envelopes and that can be factored in.
your site, your rules Mike- just seems like you want to legislate common sense, which is your right, but why make rules for the sake of rules- we have a rule in place- if people dont abide by it, they are responsible for the consequences, why rewrite it or write another rule that basically says the same thing?
Why do you say, "your site, your rules." That is a little insulting. Am I not discussing this with all members? It is not a rule yet and I'm soliciting feedback to see if this will be a rule. The rule is there, but I'm trying to strengthen it! I want people to feel that if they make a deal to ship within 3 days and the other trader ships later than that he can give a negative feedback without having to worry about retaliation or the need to explain himself. He simply scans the postmark with both addresses and he has a valid case.
I think 3 days is still too long. I would suggest no longer than 24 hours after the agreed mailout date. Communication is one of the keys. The other is keeping promises. Just my 2 cents.
We will have to live with 3 business days as the minimum. I'm open to longer time frames. Mind you that is on trades that both send at the same time. We have to deal with MSF trades as well.
I have in my sign my shipping dates i cant do better then that if i make a trade on a friday the cards wont be shipped on untill thursday thats 6 days. Looks like after 5 years here and 250 + feedback i can look forward to a bunch of negs if this rule goes through :(
And you wouldn't be effected much at all. You just need to make sure the deal states that "you will send within 7 days" and have the other trader agree. Very simple for people with difficulty getting to the post office on a regular basis!
Good discussion. I will NOT finalize the rule until has been discussed and discussed. This is something I would like maximum participation.
Here is an example to look at:
Two traders agree on 1 Oct and agree to send out within 3 days. One of the traders sends out on 2 Oct with delivery confirmation. He see that it arrives on 4 Oct. He waits and waits and 10 Oct comes around and he PMs the user. The user doesn't respond. on 14 Oct he receives the package and sees it was sent out on 12 Oct, 11 days after the deal was agreed on and 8 days after the other member received their cards.
I ask you is that a neutral or negative experience?Last edited by mikesilvia; 10-19-2008 at 11:01 PM.

I think Mike's replies have covered it, but it would be an option to give the negative if you wanted to. So if you were content with the 4-5 days then just carry on like normal.

Negative because there was no communication, even though the cards arrived.

Hi Mike,
I can forsee that being a problem. especially if im the one who sent out my card on the agreed day. The trader I sent the card to will have his card, and I will be waiting. This in and of itself can open up a "pandora's box" of issues regarding the trade. Why? The person who is waiting on his merchandise is at the mercy of the person who already got his. Trust me, thats not a good feeling when you have to put more trust in someone who couldnt be trusted to keep their word previously.
I could be wrong, but that lends itself to more problems. Just another 2 cents (I'm up to 4 cents now. I promise not to exceed my personal limit of 10 cents.lol.).

I agree with this. I normally send all my stuff out on Saturday, but I give trader heads up on it so he knows in advance.

Arnel is truthful :) even though its not in the trade manager we both told when we shipped.
I think where you can put the DC # in the trade manager, people should realize you can put "mailed 10/20" i've been doing that lately so if someone checks our trade they know when i shipped.
Also i think it should be 3 to 5 Business days unless agreed upon otherwiseHidden Content

What about the people that have in there sig "I can only ship on Satirday" and someone posts the trade on on Monday or Tuesday?

Then they state in the trade manager that they will only be able to send the cards on Saturday. As long as the other trader knows this, then it is not that big of a deal.

Maybe we could change the label to say "Mail date or DC #"... then more people will start doing it. Well that's not the main topic of this thread but I will suggest it when we are upgrading trade manager.
