Well I'm even younger than you and I don't understand it. Kids like sports more than adults so you'd think kids would like sports cards more. All kids care about nowadays is video games. Especially does dumb war games like Call of Duty or whatever it's called.

Kids, yes, but many teens your age collect on this forum. I think the place where you live could be an anomaly. The majority of collectors here are in the 15-21 range:

15-18 and 18-21 have the highest numbers. I'm in the 21-25 range, which has 5-6 less than those other two leading demographics.

has any one ever noticed that not to many kids collect sports cards? im 15 and im the only kid i know that collects them. some kids say they collect them but only have like 50 cards ot something. every one i know that collect sports cards where i live is 20+. ive alwaysed wondered why kids dont really collect sports card. does any one else have an explanation?

honestly, depending on the age of the kid, it all could be lack of knowledge.
i'm 14 and a bunch of kids that go to school with me (every time i bring cards up as a subject) say "yea, i think my dad has a Griffey Rookie, and i got a Dustin Pedroia from Topps"
i mean, if you mean why kids don't collect cards such as the members of SCF, then that's always the main reason - lack of knowledge.
to most kids, cards are so underrated, and they think a base of a star is the best ever.

I'm 20, and I don't know anyone personally that truly collects cards - one of my friends (18) "collects" but his great card is a Jerome Bettis topps total card from 4 or 5 years ago...it's sad really, because most of the people I know either don't care about anything but video games, or are into drugs, etc, or both....it's a lost hobby, really...

Gtbballer - that is awesome that you are able to coach and get the kids into collecting!

I also had a thought. Kids under 13 aren't allowed to join without a parental form and all that because of laws. That probably keeps a good percentage of kids off this board. Not good.
