I didnt make an extraordinary claim, I just said prove there isnt one. Can you do that? I cant prove to you there is one, but you cant prove there isnt one. So now what do we do? Haha.

So are we to assume there is a possibility of truth because it can neither be proven nor disproven? But what do people who believe in it want it to be proven by? Science.

However, there is a foundation in scientific validity for something to be "provable" in tangible/objective/observable phenomena, which a "soul" does not have. It is thus not even a question of proof and cannot be validated by science, only justified by subjective belief.

Give you proof there is a soul? Give me proof there ISN'T one.

Bad logic. You can "prove" a lot of things using this line of thinking.

Prove to me that there AREN'T Death Crystals located inside of certain Oak trees in Oregon that are going to cause a nuclear explosion in the year 2038.

Stupid? Absolutely. But you can't prove me wrong, can you?

You missed the point. The more I read, the more I disagree with religion. I wish someone could give me evidence. So you are saying you have a soul?

Now I may be giving an extraordinary claim. Yes, I believe I have a soul. But I cant give you concrete evidence. Its all based on faith.

Not bad logic. I believe we have souls, until I'm proven otherwise thats how its going to stand. Same with people who dont believe it, until they are proven that they DO have souls, they wont believe in them.

Is it not a contradiction to "believe" in something that is both "true" and untrue at the same time?

    Yes.

But thats not what we're dealing with here. We either have souls or we dont. So one of us is believing wrong. I believe I'm right, you're gonna believe that you're right. Neither of us can be proven wrong. So this whole thread will go in circles.

Just out of curiosity what do you think a soul is? Does God individually give us a soul or is our soul recycled?

Our soul is who we are. Our bodies are just temporary for us. Our soul is what goes to the afterlife. No they arent recycled.

I think my previous post is relevant to the discussion.

How is the contradiction rationalized then in such a belief?

I don't want the simple "faith" answer. I just think its hypocritical that many religious/spiritual believers want science to address their questions in the sense of their religious/spiritual world - how about addressing scientific questions, on the same topic, in the sense of the scientific world then?

Truthfully, it is bad logic. It is a circular argument.
