Holmstrom gets called for Goalie interference sometimes. How about lets stop being homers. I love the wings, but they deserved to lose today, yea they had more shots, but look at where they were shooting it.

No I'm pretty sure Anaheim was in the white and Detroit was in the red. I'm also pretty sure Hossa was getting called out for flopping the entire game by all 3 announcers, especially on the Neidermeyer penalty, or the slash to the back of Beauchemin's leg. Holstrom also has a history of interfering with goalies so he should not expect to be getting any borderline calls.

you have no idea what your talking about. The sooner you learn that panger, doc emerick, and pierre mcguire are 3 of the worst announcers ever...the better. Neidermeyer deliberately hauled down hossa. Even if hossa dove..the rules do not permit scott neidermeyer to touch Hossa at ALL! The ducks were running interference the entire game. Never heard a mention of a slash on beauchemin. Also I thought the getzlaf slashing was a terrible call..there were many worse things the ducks did that werent called. The ducks are also constantly trying to start fights after the whistles. As for Tomas Holmstrom, he always interferes with goalies ability to see the puck..but he does it legally. A lot of goalies try to come out beyond the crease and bump homer just to fake the ref into giving them a call. You have the wrong idea if you think holmstrom deliberatley tries to physically run goalies. Homer tries to screen and thats all. He has had a ton of horrible calls made on him based on reputation....and he often gets pushed into goalies. He is by no means a dirty player. Scott Neidermeyer was in osgood's crease plenty of times and it wasnt called. The fact is that when you watch that game...the ducks are clearly a very very dirty hockey club.

Wow... michiganice... you make me not wanna be a wings fan... first of all Emerick and Panger both are great at their jobs, emerick the best! The Hossa play was in overtime, I saw it, hit his leg. The ducks don't try to start fights, they protect their goalies... you make me not wanna be a Wings fan... until I see knowledge of hockey used. Ducks shoulda won 9-3

He's just one of those homers who thinks that the players on his team are automatically better than everyone else; the type that never thinks a penalty should be called on his team, and that if another team happens to beat his they must be cheating or doing something illegal. As for the actual game, I honestly thought Detroit should have scored about 9 goals if not for Hiller standing on his head for most of the game. Detroit seemed to carry the play provided the Getzlaf, Ryan, Perry line was not out there, but unfortunately for them Osgood let in a softy to end it.

You think so? Both goalies played well, but Detroit's selection of shots were horrible. I love the wings, know some personally, but I will never homer for them...

Yea both goalies definitely played great. While Detroit's shot selection was pretty poor at times, they still did have 60+ shots, and numerous quality chances. If anything they were passing it around a little too much, and then settling for perimeter shots after not getting the looks they wanted.

And yea, homers are annoying. Its hard having any sort of intelligent hockey based conversation with people like that. I try to be a fan of hockey first, and then a fan of my team second, but not everyone seems to be capable of doing that.

Looked to me like it got tipped off of either Brad Stuart or Scott Neidermeyer. If you saw the replay, the puck went into the top right corner, and didnt even come down inside the net...id say thats just a really nice (unless it was tipped) shot...not a softy. As for mears...Im not sure what you think is so special about emerick and panger. Panger was a nothing goaltender who makes the stupidest comments...and mike emerick always makes the play sound way more exciting than it is, not to mention he didnt even play hockey (and is the devils announcer). Mickey Redmond and Larry Murphy are so much more knowledgable about the game. And I'm sorry if im a homer...but when your contstantly being screwed by the NHL because your team is so much better...its very frustrating. The referees are just really horrible with their call selection...against both teams...not just detroit. Anaheim is just one of those teams that will take a 100 penalties and get called for 10...and detroit takes 20 or 30 and gets called for 10.

I guess you are right. The Red Wings players never take penalties, the refs are just trying to level the playing field. Osgood never gives up soft goals. The best announcers in the world are Redmond and Murphy. Datsyuk is the best player in the NHL, and 2nd best to ever play, only behind Gordie Howe. Osgood is an all time great, only behind Sawchuk. If the Wings do not win the cup every year, its only because they chose to let another team have a turn with it, etc, etc, etc.
