I guess you are right. The Red Wings players never take penalties, the refs are just trying to level the playing field. Osgood never gives up soft goals. The best announcers in the world are Redmond and Murphy. Datsyuk is the best player in the NHL, and 2nd best to ever play, only behind Gordie Howe. Osgood is an all time great, only behind Sawchuk. If the Wings do not win the cup every year, its only because they chose to let another team have a turn with it, etc, etc, etc.

Personally I think he's a touch overrated. He's great defensively, but how important really is that when he his whole team is excellent defensively. The marginal difference between his defense and the next guy on the team would not change the outcome of a game nearly much as people like to pretend, if at all.

Offensively he's good, but I think he benefits a lot from playing with Hossa, Franzen, Zetterberg, Lidtrsom, Rafalski, and Holmstrom. Over 1/3 of his points are on the powerplay in which he is always with those mentioned guys, and generally at even strength is usually out with them as well. That said he has never posted a 100 point season (close the past 2) and is also IMO a guy who does not always show up in the playoffs. Last year and the year before he played well, but just about every other playoff season he was a complete bust playoff time. Put Ovechkin, Malkin, or Crosby on Detroit and I'm sure they are a far better team than they are with Datsyuk.

IMO datsyuk hasnt done crap so far for the wings. If you have watched all the wings playoff games from the past 2 years, and you still think Franzen is average...you need to screw your head on tight.

And you call yourself a wings fan? How soon you forget how the wings played without Datsyuk in the regular season. Um yes he is the best player in the nhl, so he doesn't wear glasses and a straw hat and get a drink from malkin, he's quiet and gets his job done drama free, like a champion should. Oh and you think the wings power play would be 30% not without Datsyuk it wouldn't, he is puck posession to the extreme. Also leads the team in hits and takeaways too. If you think this assessment is wrong, then your not a true wings fan.
