why does nobody mention Holstrom in this thread. now there is a guy who "underproduced" . he was supposed to be the big warrior wasnt he.
some guys seem to get more of a free pass than others do in the media. also some guys seem to draw more defensive roles in certain situations. did crosby underproduce or did zetterberg produce by shutting him down. datsyuk altho valuable isnt a top 10 player. but he's top 5 on the wings team....lidstrom, zetterberg, holstrom, franzen, hossa.
and in the same train of thought helm had a great series.. it doesnt make him clutch, it means he had a great series. and talbot had a dream game...he isnt a top 50 forward but he had two clutch?? goals.
timing is everything.

I thought the wings best players in the post season were Osgood, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Franzen, Cleary, Helm, Filppula, Ericsson, and Kronwall. Hossa and Datsyuk were both subpar. You can say Datsyuk choked more...but just remember that Hossa is the second highest paid player on the team behind Lidstrom.

The fact that the penguins won doesn't change my stance that Detroit is still the best team and franchise in the NHL. I know Detroit will be back in the mix again next year and every year after that for a long time. Time will tell if the Penguins are the real deal or not. Lets see what there future is like. I simply think the wings were too banged up coupled with the fact that they didn't necessarily have the same determination as last year. Its not like they got blown away or anything. Play the same series in round 1 or 2 and the wings win easily in my opinion.
I still congratulate Pittsburgh for winning. Their whole team fought really hard and wanted that cup badly. Malkin, Talbot, and Fleury really stepped up their game in the last 2 games of the series to lift the penguins.

theyre good but they're not the best or they would have won. GOOD TEAMS KNOW HOW TO WIN NO MATTER WHAT. the wings didn't. not saying the wings stink but the Pens are the best team until dethroned.

In this I'm going to have to say you are wrong due to the circumstances. You can be the best, but if you have too many injuries are you really going to be as good as you can be?

The Wings lost it due to a tight schedule + too many injuries like you said. If Zetterberg & the others had capitalized on Datsyuk's passes, they'd have won it. Check how many times Dats' passes landed on a Red Wings player with an empty net in front of him, but couldn't one time a shot or was too slow to shoot it.
