Once again, very interesting. Do you know how long Gotti was in the Mafia?

I know that he started at a very early age, as was the case with most mobsters. As far as when he became the boss of the Gambino family, it was only after he orchestrated a plot to have then-boss Paul Castellano murdered that he took control. That was in the 80's so he wasn't the head of the gang for too long until he was corralled in on several charges. Any other questions?

On orders given by Gotti, Paul Castellano & his underboss Tommy Bilotti were murdered just before Christmas 1985 outside of Sparks Steakhouse by gunmen all wearing identical jackets. Gotti & Sammy "The Bull" Gravano witnessed the murder from a car parked nearby. This cleared the way for Gotti to elevate to boss of the family.

In September of 1986, Gotti was on the cover of Time Magazine, and a lot of people in the mob didn't like the attention he was bringing to himself.

Gravano, faced with a life sentence of his own, agreed to enter witness protection and testify against Gotti, which resulted in the "Teflon Don" finally being convicted after years of the government trying. Gravano left witness protection in 1995, lived very openly in Arizona, and was arrested in 1998 for running a major ecstasy drug ring. I believe he's still incarcerated

When he joined? I know for a fact he was about 11 or 12 when he first joined a street gang and started working for the Gambino's around the 1970's.

June 24, 1997 - US Air Force releases final report on Roswell
In early July of 1947, Roswell, New Mexico was put into the history books as a possible UFO sighting by a rancher (who also found what he called "strange, shiny material") was only then supported as well by the US Air Force, who claimed to have recovered the wreckage of a "flying disk." Only June 24, 1997, the US Air Force released a 231-page report dismissing the myths and claims of alien space craft in Roswell, New Mexico, stemming from events that happened nearly 50 years prior.

    Other significant events...
June 24, 1497 - The first recorded sighting of North America by a European took place as explorer John Cabot spotted land presently in modern-day Canada.
June 24, 1509 - Henry VIII crowned king of England.
June 24, 1948 - Communist forces cut off vital routes between West Germany and West Berlin (Berlin Blockade), forcing the Western Allies (US, Britain and others) to form an airlift (Berlin Airlift) to bring supplies to the people of Berlin.
