Well both would be great feats to achieve, it's a hard one to choose between the two. Me personally, don't watch too much baseball, I pretty much have a basketball mentality...but pitching a perfect game is great and rarely seen, a quadruple-double though whew, that would be crazy to see...I say with the way the game is played today, and how it has changed, pulling a quad would be much harder, it would require much more athleticism and skill to achieve a quad double

Probabaly already mentioned but you're missing SEVERAL things which skew what you're trying to say. The NBA plays 1/3 less games, obviously they are going to have less Quads, not to mention the NBA has been around what 80 years less. If you factor in those two details a perfect game should be by far harder to do.

i would have to say a perfect game. I agree with the other comments in that the game has to be flawless. You can't walk anyone or balk or hit the batter. Your teammates have to make the crucial plays and not commit any errors.

I'm wondering if there were possible quad-doubles back in the 40-60s when blocks and steals weren't counted. When were assists recognized?

I remember watching some highlights during the lockout in 1999 and they showed the game where Hakeem made a quadruple-double. I think earlier that year, he was close to making one but fell 1 shy in a category.

Crossing over the lines then becomes an issue when speaking about this. If we are to talk about great accomplishments, I believe the concept of a Perfect Game in this text is far more of an accomplishment. Due to the fact that you have many elements that deal with it. You rely on other players on your team, the field is bigger - so positioning is key. The pitcher must be 100% in the zone. The curve ball must be moving, the fastball must be mixed in, the breaking ball must break. Plus the natural elements of the weather play a key role. If anyone pitches a perfect game in coors field, then this is far greater then one in Oakland. Due the natural weather conditions. However, for me the greatest accomplishment has to be Tiger Woods holding all 4 Majors at once. This factors in the elements, different courses, differenct countries, 144 other competitors. I am by no means a Tiger Woods fan as I cheer against him and also the US in Ryder Cups. However, if you are look at what he did, he had to be perfect for 4 tournaments that last 4 days and due to the schedule and physical and mental element. Not only to mention what they do corporately and personally, then to me this is far greater then a perfect game or a quad.

    I say perfect game..
Just based on the number of games played alone, I would imagine there are less perfect games per games played than quad doubles.
Plus you can get a quad double on both sides of the ball points/rebounds and blocks/steals or some combo. Where as you don't get any help towards a perfect game if your pitcher does anything offensively.

until i read this post i was goin to say the quad double.. the perfect game is what it is, ''perfect''. the quad can happen on a horrible shooting night, it can also come in a lost. the perfect game is perfect...lol, what can be better then perfect

i see what youre saying, the difference is, in a quad double, you have a margin of error. you can miss a shot, or your teammate can miss a shot, and you still can get a quad double. with a perfect game, if you miss anything- the strike zone for one pitch, or if the guy misses a play behind you- then the perfect game is gone
