I hope you picked up on the sarcasm...I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard when people were saying that. And it was a lot of people too...I'd like to know what they're saying now. Eli is above average at best and most definitely doesn't deserve to be the 3rd highest paid player in football.

    Totally got the sarcasm :)

They are saying on NFL Network that this deal will make him the highest paid player in the NFL.

Oh yeah? I saw a graphic showing Peppers and I think it was Brady ahead of him, but maybe that was compared a different way. I think that was yearly, but since he just signed this deal, that's probably the biggest contract going forward right now.

Yep. All Giant fans new it. I was somewhere a few months ago and one guy was saying how he'll be the highest paid player in the NFL after he gets an extension. Hey, I'm perfectly fine with the Giants paying him so much, less chance he'd wear an Eagle uni. And for the Giant fans who will say, "oh you'd take him on the eagles in a second." No, no I wouldn't

The good thing for him is that he can buy plenty of Massengil when he is feeling a little bit feminine.

The Chargers will now open negotiations with Philip Rivers now that Eli has gotten paid. Rivers is looking to get comparable money to Eli, if not better. I suspect he will get something in the same range as Eli when it is all done.
Supercollecting: LT, Antonio Gates, Hakeem Olajuwon and Jose Canseco
Will trade for: Nice Chargers Autos/GU I don't have yet
Want GU/Autos Chipper Jones I don't have yet
Also looking for... The Walking Dead cards that I don't have yet

    Hidden Content

I use BV for trades and SV for sales OR if the item is new or rare to have a BV, for trades.

Should have used the money to sign a proven #1 receiver.

    Burress, gone.
    Toomer, gone.

He is getting overpaid but the only reason they did this is to make sure he is going to saty with them for a while and not lose him to another team. They can build a teama round him and eventually he is going to be like his brother. He is going to be a great QB and the Giants wanted to make sure he is going to be with the team

He will never be like his brother. He will never be a team leader that shreds defenses with his arm. He will never be a savvy QB that looks across the line and knows what the defense is going to do before the ball is even snapped.

Just for arguments sake, lets do a comparison.

    Eli after 5 seasons:
    14,623 yards, 55.9% completion, 98 TDs, 74 INTs, 76.1 QB Rating, 1 Pro Bowl

Peyton after his first 5 seasons:
    20,618 yards, 62% completion, 138 TDs, 100 INTs, 85.8 QB rating, 3 Pro Bowls

    There is no comparison.........

It's not that he's the best QB in the NFL... it's just his turn at bat. It's a revolving door at the top in terms of highest paid, and that spot is usually held by the last good QB to get a contract. Just the way it is. I'm fine with the contract, especially since it's only a matter of time before it's topped.

I'm in no way saying Eli is as good as Peyton, but to compare their stats is pretty silly. Peyton played in a pass-first offense and in a dome for the majority of his games. Eli played in a run-first offense in the Meadowlands. He's not as bad as some people make him out to be.
