He still got some game. I say they can make some extra wins this season. He is still better than a lot of younger guys on better teams.

lots of players get kicked to the curb, whats the big deal here? they all know that all they are is a piece of meat. the only thing that matters is that favre will play and be favre. why does that bother you???
you don't know that he doesn't have it anymore, you're just hoping. ha ha.

The Favre of old or the Favre of bad? How do you know how he will play? He's got a torn rotator cuff that can get a lot worse, and he's got no chemistry with the current team. I don't care if he knows the offense, he hasn't worked with any of the players.

I knew he'd come back once the preseason started. Not much of a shock.

I respect your opinion. We see it in two different lights. I have not viewed Favre as a "safe" QB for a few years. Where he was once capable of making something out of nothing and just forcing it in, he now presents defensive opportunities instead. When I watch him play I see a guy who thinks the way he did 10 years ago but is operating on a slightly less capable body. he may win you 2 extra games or he may cost you two. Does he make Minny a better team than without him? Marginally. Does he make them better beyong this year? No. In fact he sets your offense back as a result. Success is achieved through consistency, chemistry and all parts operating in a single scheme. He disrupts this coming in as a one year piece of the puzzle. I personally do not see Minny as a currently average to better QB away from a Super Bowl contender. I would bet money they will not be be undefeated 10 games in.

Just my opinion though. I like Favre and always have. It is not anti-Favre based sentiments.

Thanks, and I respect your opinion as well. Honestly, I don't see how he'll (potentially) cost us games...T-Jack and Gus Frerotte from last year had slightly better numbers COMBINED...but, 2 QBs can't be on the field at the same time, and I would rather have one person on the field that can put up the same numbers as 2 combined...

As for making them better beyond 2009 - no, he absolutely doesn't - but, we are playing for this year, not next...plus, there are rumors that the league may be much different that it is now in 2 years...lockout possibilities, etc...but, that's for another thread...but, that's why the Vikes are going for it all right now, IMO, and I don't blame them...the Vikes have nothing to show for almost 50 years in the league...4 superbowl appearances, last one about 30 years ago, and no wins...people can't say that the Vikings management isn't trying to bring a title to Minnesota now.

As for not going undefeated through 10 games - I don't think they will either, but I'm saying there is a possibility that they do start the year 11-0...they will, however, most likely start 6-0...Vikes schedule looks like this - @ Browns, @ Lions, 49ers, Packers, @ Rams, Ravens, @ Steelers, @ Packers, BYE, Lions, Seahawks, Bears, @ Cardinals, Bengals, @ Panthers, @ Bears, Giants - so, is it really that farfetched to say that they could win their first 11 games? Or 10-1?

The Favre of old or the Favre of bad? How do you know how he will play? He's got a torn rotator cuff that can get a lot worse, and he's got no chemistry with the current team. I don't care if he knows the offense, he hasn't worked with any of the players.

Could, but that's an old tear according to the doctors who performed the surgery...so the likelihood of it getting worse is pretty slim.
