another thing is why would someone use paypal shipping and go to the post office. If i was going to the post office then i would wait and get shipping there ( more accurate)
99% of the time people are using paypal shipping, arent taking them to the PO

I can see why you would do that I print them and drop them off. DC is free or cheaper. I think it is 75 cent at the PO. also I don't have to wait in line at PO if I have my stuff prelabel they love me for that

Plain and simple......You bid knowing there was a discount in shipping. If you were concerned about what the charges were then you should have contacted the seller BEFORE you bid and won the auctions.

To complain about the shipping after it was combined is not the sellers fault in this case

Completely agree with this. To bid and win, and then ask questions after is amateurish move and would be very frustrating to me as a seller.

For me I charge $2 for 1st auction and .25 after, capping at $5, but the problem is if someone wins 20 auctions from me and I cap it at $5, I just got raped by all the fees and am basically sending you free cards. Never assume, always ask questions.

I been buying cards on ebay for a while and have never ran into this problem.
I went ahead and honored my end of the deal and paid. LOL got an email from paypal saying that they where shipped using paypal shipping. Basically he dosent even have to leave his house. So where is the handling fee coming from?

I don't deny for a second that he is using shipping to make a profit.

Speaking for me personally, even if I use PayPal shipping I still take it to the post office. I live in the country on a farm and my mail carrier drives an old ratty, rusty SUV. I like to know for a fact that my package made it to the post office.

the same way with my mailman, i live deep in country and mine drive a jeep with wood panaling on the side
Hes lucky if he makes it back to the PO
but i have paid for the cards and will leave positive feedback because i shouldve asked, but i will let him know that i did think his shipping was a bit excessive

I only use PayPal shipping for stuff I sell, mainly because DC is 1/4 of the cost that it is at the PO. I take packages for trades to get postage at the PO - its like a 5 minute drive, and I run errands after the trip anyway - so I just drop off my PayPal packages at that time.

A scale is only worth it if you have a decent sales volume.

The buyer could of asked but the seller could of also been more clear to avoid situations like this one.

So you're basically saying, if there is incomplete or ambiguous information, that it is OK to blame the seller AFTER the fact of a transaction being made?

Ok alot of you are saying its the Buyers responsibility for everything. Hey My car takes gas and I need ink for my Printer yadda yadda yadda. So Let me ask when is the seller at fault. When should the seller use common sense? Cause When I list something I know that the gas and ink and so forth comes with me agreeing to list it. Its part of the seller responsibility to ship it to the buyer. I am sure the Buyer didn't email this guy and go "Hey Please sell me these card Please" The seller listed it knowing what he needed to do afterwards to get these cards out.The seller did not get what he wanted for the cards and decided to add that cost to the buyer. Plain and simple. You want a good way to fix this sellers? List the cards for what you want for them. You want $5 for the card list it as so. Don't put 99 cents and get mad cause you got $1.04 instead of the $5 you wanted. Don't over charge on shipping to make a few Bucks back. It works both ways folks. The seller here is just as responsible as the Buyer.

It was the buyer's choice to enter into a transaction purchase the item. The buyer had the initiative to enter into a transaction, which IMO makes him more responsible for characterizing it to his satisfaction. This is the nature of eBay as an auction/bidding system - the buyers decide.

Everything, including shipping, is built into the cost - I don't see why so many people perceive that they should only be paying for an item, when a service is involved.

    A few thoughts here...

    - You are responsible for asking what "combined shipping" means and what rate the additional cards ship at. Is it your fault that the shipping is excessive? No. Is it your fault that you didn't ask? Yes. Lesson learned.

    - He actually discounted more than 50% of the shipping. The first card was $2.99 leaving $5.30 divided by the other 4 cards, so $1.33 each to ship them. So he discounted the shipping on the other 4 cards by 56%.

    - As someone already pointed out, had you purchased the cards separately then shipping would have been nearly $15. Look at the $8.29 as a savings of $6.71 not an excess cost of $3.50.

    - The idea that S&H is cheap baffles me. Speaking for me personally, I can't ship a card sold on eBay for less than a cost of $4 for myself. I can't touch a padded envelope in my area for less than .75 cents, postage is $1.30, DC is .75 cents, ink and labels add another .25 cents or so, an 8 mile round trip to the P.O. cost me 1/2 gallon of gas so add in another $1.50. All of that adds up to $4.55. If I ship a card for $3.50 S&H I actually lose over $1.

Are you using paypal to ship your cards? Because a bubble mailer with top loader and card is usually under 2 oz. which comes out to $1.58 with DC#.
