Attended the Detroit Pistons vs. Minnesota Timberwolves preseason game at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, MI. Arrived there kind of late to the pregame shoot around due to traffic and couldn't get a spot at the section for 'graphing the Pistons players as they got on the court and left. However, I was allowed to get one autograph from a player by the usher watching the spot there, so I got Charlie Villanueva to sign a trading card for me.
My first time 'graphing at the Palace and I didn't do so well. Plus didn't know how to get access to the loading dock where the visitor's bus was parked at so didn't try to graph the T-Wolves after the game. Oh wells, at least I scored a graph and still have a little bit more to go about 'graphing at the Palace. Felt really spoiled last season 'graphing in MN at the Target Center. Also felt wrong for cheering on the T-Wolves, who won the game, as old habits die hard from cheering them on last season.

nice but next time go around to the other side of the autographs section where there are other people standing and you can get graphs there. also do you know where the loading dock is?

You should of got on Opdyke Rd and take it up to the Palace. I-75 is so bad to drive in during rush hour....

Yeah, that's what I should have done, but didn't know that the other side had fewer autograph seekers. I think the loading dock where the visiting teams' bus is parked at is at the front as you pull into the parking lot off of I-75, but didn't know if you could just walk right in or have any other ways of accessing it from inside the Palace. It's not like the Target Center where the visiting teams' bus is parked right on the outside on one of the side of the venue.
It was horrible because they closed the left two lanes for construction 2 miles before the Palace exit. I was trying to figure out another route to get to the Palace, but decided to just push forward. But thanks, I'll keep Opdyke Rd. in mind the next time I'm making a trip to the Palace.

Met Detroit Pistons' rookie forward, Jonas Jerebko, at an appearance he was doing for the Art Van furniture store out in Shelby Township, MI today. Got Jonas to sign one 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 promo pictures for me and two additional ones so I could give away to my brother and uncle.

Yeap, he was pretty cool. Greeted everyone as they got up to him and chatted as well. Plus, it wasn't that much of a line, though a couple of sellers were in front of me and I know I'll be seeing their signed items on Ebay in the next couple of days soon.

The Detroit Lions did a launch of their annual Pet Calendar to benefit the Dearborn Animal Shelter, in conjuction with the "Lions Review" radio show out at the Buffalo Wild Wings sports bar tonight. The dealers and Ebay sellers were out in full force, so there were extra traffic than usual. I purchased a calendar for $15 and was able to get the following personnels, who were there on hand and also featured in the calendar, to sign for me:
play by play/radio voice of the Lions, Dan Miller

color analyst of the Lions, Jim Brandstatter

Lions' tight end, Casey Fitzsimmons

Lions' 3rd string quarterback, Drew Stanton

also got Drew to sign a trading card and have him inscribed, "Go State!" since I'm a Michigan State fan as well as former student

Lions' offensive linesman, Daniel Loper

Lions' offensive linesman, Jeff Backus

Lions' defensive tackle, Landon Cohen

Lions' defensive end, DeWayne White

got DeWayne to sign a trading card as well

Lions' longsnapper Don Muhlbach, punter Nick Harris, linebacker Jordon Dizon, and running back Kevin Smith were also feature in the calendar, but they didn't make it out there. Calvin Johnson is also in the calendar and there for the radio show like always, but the hounds mobbed him as soon as he walked in and crowded close to him as the radio show broadcasted. The radio station street team also cut off the signing line, just moments before it was my turn to get his signature. Kinda bummed out, but oh wells, life goes on.Last edited by tboculosis; 11-03-2009 at 03:10 PM.
