Funny how this went from one collector to another critisisum, to non-collector to collector talk. I think we all could get heat in some way shape or form from someone outside the hobby....LOL But enjoying the discussion none the less!

I love the fact that this has remained civil. We are all out of our minds for what we pay for chunk's of cardboard.
I got into it with a family member that was bugging me about what I spend on cards. I just asked what he spent on smokes in a year and asked what he had to show for it.... He doesn't bug me anymore
As long as we only spend what we can. We are all good
Well done on the topic everyone

My budget is fairly low and i'll admit it right away as i am a student. Only reason right now i have some stuff moving in and out through sales as im on a workterm for school which is over on April 2nd, so back to a smaller budget. One thing that really urks me though is some of the collectors here who will not help out a person on a low budget in any way shape or form.
There are some collectors here who are awesome, and i have to give a shout out to bossy'scards on this, as he had a couple nice cards i really wanted and allowed me to setup a payment plan and it worked out perfectly for both of us and only took me 2 - 3 weeks but i have most of it payed off. I thank him for this in the biggest way possible!
But for some other guys, they have no time for us or respect for the fellow collector. Theres a card i really need and the collector has it way overpriced and wont come down for me at all, and will only let me pay up front all in one sum. Thats the kind of thing that turns my stomach a bit when that person knows how bad u want something but they could care less at all, just no respect for other collectors whatsoever. Apparently i vented a little there, but i had to get if off my chest as this really aint fair to someone like me who cant afford to throw a big lump sum of money up front. Anyone else have an experience like this?
So anyways, i guess bottom line is, for next couple years i will have a low budget, but what keeps me happy is people like bossy'scards that will look out for the little guy no matter what

Every hobby out there has a costs associated and if it is something you enjoy then it is always justified. I could easily spend my card money on golfing. A few rounds of golf a week match up well. Then there are the smokers, drinkers, gamblers, etc. and vices that generally have worse negative effects. It's your money, so do what makes you happy. As long as everything else is looked after it is not an issue.
Anyone who takes issue with what or how someone else collects is 100% always doing it out of envy and needs to grow up.

first off great thread, and i have never had another collector bash my collection or what i paid. i am sure we have all over paid on certain things. i love the cigerettes theory $10+ a pack equals 70 a week if you smoke a pack a day. and for this quote i just got in a jerry rice 1/1 the seller markwholf allowed me to pay in installments took me about 6 weeks probably to get it all off, and i have no problem doing the same for others. especially pc cards, if its for someones pc $ doesnt matter as long as both parties are happy in the end.
