Welcome to the boards Brain, it's really nice to have you here and to hear your thoughts. I was wondering if you would elaborate on the statement I bolded above?

Although we made a formal request to the NHLPA and visited and presented to the NHL, we have had very little feedback from either of them.
We have been contacted by many people in the "know" who seem to think that UD will share the license with another company and it won't be ITG.
My guess would be Panini.
I have some thoughts about both UD and Panini but I think I should keep them to myself as they might seem like sour grapes.
It seems that neither the NHL or the NHLPA cares what collectors think, we have had massive support from hockey collectors for which I am thankful. But our support seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

That's what I was afraid of. Not sure what can be said but I do feel that it would obviously be beneficial for to have ITG fully licensed (and possibly other companies as well). Keep fighting the good fight Brian, you know what they say "The squeaky wheel gets the grease"....

Do you think that the NHLPA and/or the NHL simply don't approve of ITG, or is it something else? For instance, even though Upper Deck has an exclusive on exclusive, somehow Topps can produce "Attax". Do you think ITG would be allowed a license to produce a Hockey card game or would you be similarly denied?
Cheers,

Looking forward to 5 more years of hockey product from UD, and hopefully Topps.

Is this sarcastic? Because ive never heard anyone utter that statement that didnt work directly for UD.

If UD can pull it together, why wouldn't we want to hear that statement? When Upper Deck is at their best, we know what they're capable of doing - unfortunately for us hockey fans, it's been a while since that has been the case. I certainly don't want to see the exclusive renewed as my preference is for UD & ITG to get licenses, but I don't want to see UD wither and die away as they can still produce some very nice cards.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

It might be but as collectors we can share our opinions here pro or con on any issue. They have a right to support UD just like many can support ITG. To each their own.
I just wish they would explain why they like UD so much. Also would like to know why they would rather have Topps in the market instead of ITG. That requires some facts and opinions to be put out there for a debate. We can have a in depth debate as long as we respect each other as individiuals not necessarily sharing the same viewpoint. As that would be quite boring.

I am all for Upper Deck being on the scene of every sport with their cards. They do alot of things very well and like many other companies out there they have issues to resolve.
As much as I would love to see it be an open market allowing ITG, Topps, Panini, etc. to manufacture licensed products as well, I do not want to see an over produced free for all that waters down things for all. Give each different applicant license to make a couple of sets, or put set licenses up for tender with no company being allowed to own all licenses in any price point tier. Just get some competition going. I am always awed by how effective ITG has been in competition without a license. I imagine they would and could crank it up to leave the competition behind with a level playing field.
