but the point is that people are saying that its a problem that beckett has such a wide range because its value can land anywhere in between. sell/market value is no different. at least with the beckett you know it hasnt been influenced by cheating and idiocy (shilling and listings).

So lets say you have two cards that both book $300-$500. One sells $430-$460 consistently and the other one sells $290-$320 consistently. If you trade them sure they have the same Beckett range but it is without a doubt a ripoff. Trades can be fair based on the general current selling price on ebay.

like I said earlier, cards that are selling in the hundreds are a different playing field. most of us arent trading cards that consistantly sell that high. sell value holds no weight because it has so many ups and downs due to influencing variables.
the card that books 20 but sold for 2 because the seller forgot to list that its a refractor (it could have sold for 20) is traded for a card that books 5 and sells for 2. the guy with the $5 card points out the last $20 card sold for $2. how is that fair? its not more fair then the issues you have with BV's.

Then that is a flaw in the listing and you disregard the auction.

Because the low's and high's of the sell value are prices that the card ACTUALLY sold for, whereas Beckett ranges dont have low's and high's of actual sell prices, they are just predictions.

there is still no value. there is still a big gap between the final sale price if one sells for 60 and then 150. what is its value? I can say its market value is $55 and you can say its $155. how is that going to lead to a fair trade? any more fair then a BV?
way too many factors on ebay that unfairly set a market value. theres no set shipping cost, so that automatically nullifies its true value right out the bat.
we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Yes, it is more fair than BV because the card actually sold for those values. So if you listed it it might get $60 or it might get $150, which is true. With Beckett they are giving values that it might have gone for or might go for in the future, but with ebay it is values that it actually sold for. Shipping costs are huge factors with very low-end cards, but with higher end cards, $3 shipping tends to not matter much when you are dealing with $200 cards. High end cards are part of the market too, you cant just say those are exceptions to Beckett.

shipping regularly costs more than $3 even with lowend cards. regularly lower as well. I still disagree. one is no more "fair" then the other if there are large gaps in both. making an unfair trade in regards to BV is no different then making an unfair trade based off of SV. because neither one has a set value. both are based off of a range. the fact that one range is what it actually sells for is irrelevent because it doesnt sell for 1 consistant price. plus those prices are based off of unfair factors that have already been stated.
I would rather go off a "guess" range based off of market trends then a "sold" range affected by shipping, shilling, listings, etc.
