I would say one reason would be one the number of game he has played. Also 19-11 is not eyepopping though his g.a.a and save & are as you mentioned. It would definitely look better if he had started more than 34 games to help his cause by inflating the win's.

He's likely not being mentioned because Jimmy Howard is going to run away with it.

To my thinking, the nominees will be Myers, Howard, and Duchene. Sorry JT fans...
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Although I am obviously leaning to one person, I just don't see anyone winning other than Myers or Duchene. What those two have produced Offensively for their teams (and in the case of Myers Defensively too) have been huge and IMO overshadow goaltending.

The argument i feel for howard is that without him, i doubt the wings would be in a playoff spot.
I mean Myers and Duchene have been reallly good for the avs and the sabres, however both anderson and miller have carried both those teams to post season spots. That is why I think Howard deserves it. It is about who is more valuble to their team, not on individual achievements.

I would have to agree with both of these. Rask just hasn't played enough games. If he had played the amount of games as the elite goaltenders and had the SV% and GAA that he does, then maybe he would be considered for both the Calder and the Vezina. Also, I think Howard has been much more valuable to his team than any of the other rookies, including Duchene and Myers. My second place vote would go for Myers, and then my third place vote would go for Duchene.

This is for the Hart not the Calder.
"The Calder Memorial Trophy is an annual award given "to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition" (straight from the NHL site)
It actually is about individual achievements. So I feel that Duchene or Myers have to win it.
