The only place Giroux may be going is MTL for Carey Price.

they don't have Emery - he's a free agent.
do you think they are going to go into next season with Boucher as their #1? they did that once before and it didn't work out too well.
it's about cap space - they have Carter for one more year and then he's gone. no team can afford three centermen at $5M+ each and they aren't moving Richards and they can't move Briere. plus they have almost $15M tied up in 3 d-men.
i think they would be all over this. i checked and if they lose Carter they need another center. stoll could work for them as a third line center. it may not be giroux - maybe it's Leino. i would love to have Laperriere back and that would help their cap handle Stoll.
their options in net are...
1. Go with Boucher and pray
2. convince a guy like Theodore or Turco to play for peanuts
3. make a deal for a young and somewhat proven goalie with a low cap hit
Carter is gone one way or the other - why not turn him into something that helps your team?
if it's Giroux that messes the deal up, then i could see Carter/Laperriere for Quick/Stoll. Flyers save $1.5M in cap space and get a starting goalie and a third line center for a guy they can't sign after next year and a third line grinder.

That makes a lot more sense.

Why? Price is now a back-up. Pretty sure Montreal wouldn't mind Giroux, maybe a little more, for Price. No need having two #1 goalies.

i guess folks are a lot higher on Giroux than i am.
i'm not sure the Kings would make a deal for Carter - i think he's too expensive and the Kings want cap room for Doughty and Johnson. i think if they move Quick it would be for someone like Oshie or Giroux or someone like that.
but again, trades aren't just about talent and stats anymore. it's about cap numbers.
even if it were Quick straight up for Carter I'm not sure DL makes the deal. i guess if they pass on Frolov and let Carter be their offensive pickup then maybe they would do it.
i'm no cap expert but Carter is a cap buster because he's got the one year left and then he's going to want to get paid as a RFA.

Giroux is 22 years old, and he puts up good numbers. I think Giroux for Quick makes the most sense. And maybe Kovy will land in LA? If they try that, than they need to do something big.

Giroux is 22. Age is the same. Montreal has Halak or Price, they could do either.

i don't know enough about Giroux to know if i would trade Quick for him. the numbers work.
it will be interesting to see if MTL is willing to move one of their guys. i would think yes but they might not want to give up on Price so early.
same thing for the Kings. i'm not sure DL would be willing to move Quick with Bernier only having played 7 NHL games.
that's why i love these threads - speculation is fun, especially when your team's season is over.
