If Schenn isn't on the team this year, then what will probably happen is Zeus walks, Schenn goes to 2nd line, Stoll takes 3rd line.
Trade Brown. He's a terrible captain and he doesn't realize how bad he is at dangling. Plus he NEVER shoots when he has a good angle.
I like Willy but I want someone who isn't glass
I want Greene on this team for at LEAST 8 more years.
OD needs to leave.
Ersberg will be traded for a 5th, 6th, or 7th so JB can play

i wouldn't trade brown. i know you don't like him but he's a good 2nd line RW that can score and hit. he's not getting paid huge money so for what we have him at i like him. he's not a first line winger so as long as he plays what his role should be he's a keeper.
i would trade williams if we could get something for him but i don't think we can at this point. could be a deadline move next year if he stays healthy.
i like greene too - he plays a rough style that may not last a long time but i'm glad we have him for four more years.
o'donnell will probably retire but i wouldn't hate him as the 6th/7th d-man.
i agree, Ersberg will probably be traded or sent to Europe.

OD is just awful. I don't wanna see him with a kings logo on his chest next year or I'll be just as scared as I was this year when Jones touched the puck.

if voynov or hickey or martinez is ready and drewiske recovers then i don't see the point in keeping him around. harrold will be the #7. but i'd rather o'donnell than a rookie that plays tentatively or spending $ on a free agent that keeps us from re-signing doughty/johnson/simmonds.

positions of strength...
Center
Defense
Goalie
need to upgrade
Wings
possible trade bait this summer and next year...
Moller, Elkins, Cliche, Azevedo, Stoll
Martinez, Teubert
Quick, Ersberg
Team needs for 2010-11 (via trade, UFA or call-up)
Scoring LW
Grinding PK Forward
Someone to play with Johnson on the 2nd pairing
i like our first line assuming they can stay healthy and i love our shut down line. need a scoring winger to play with brown/stoll (or schenn) and a grinder/middleweight to play on the 4th line and PK.
on defense, i love doughty/johnson/scuderi/greene. need a puck-mover to play with greene and a stay at home guy to play with Johnson. voynov could be the guy to play with Greene. need a guy like Seidenberg or Volchenkov to play with Johnson so he can roam free.
at the draft, DL should focus on goal scorers. i know they are hard to find but we have playmakers both with the big club and in the minors. we need a power forward and a sniper.

Dave not sure where you stand on Kovalchuk but seriously I'd rather have Volchenkov. Really. Our team was fine scoring this year. That scoring is only going to go up with the young guys we have. What we NEED is a guy like Volch who will just absolutely shut down everyone on the opposing team. Imagine a PK with DD, Volch, Greene, and Scuds on it. Best PK in the league? Probably would be.

for a while i wanted Kovy but not now. he'll cost way too much. the only way Detroit can sign him is if Lidstrom retired and they don't re-sign a few other guys and go with a bunch of youngsters. their payroll is already at $40M and they only have 12 players under contract. kovy gets $10M which means you have about $10M to work with and you still need 2 d-men and 5 forwards.
i would rather have simmonds/doughty/johnson than Kovy. sure, i'd like him and volchenkov or hamhuis but they are all too much. DL needs to either re-sign simmonds/doughty/johnson this summer or act like he's re-signed them and save that cap space.
hockey is turning into basketball as far as salary cap goes in the sense that it's about guys with expiring contracts. i think DL will target a few players to trade for that are going into their last year of their deals. a couple of guys i can think of are Jeff Carter and Thomas Kaberle. we have quite a few young assets to trade and those guys can be had for less than market value because they will be UFA's next summer.
we have cap space for 2010-11 but we're going to up against it in 2011-12 with re-signing those guys. so if you add from the outside it needs to be guys that you can fit under the cap this year but not have to pay in the long term.
so i'm going to look for guys that are UFAs in 2011-12 and see who we can target in a trade to fill the holes we have. i hope that's what DL is doing as well.
and btw, i've heard jerome iginla's name being thrown around as someone we could target. he's a great player but if we sign him we lose at least johnson if not more as he's due $7M/year until 2012-13.
a couple of guys to target...
