With a lot of dmen signing on the first day, Kaberle's stock just rose up. A lot of Laugh fans are too darn eager to get rid of Kaberle, where as I don't want him to go. With Kaberle out, no one will be able to q-back the powerplay. On top of that, Burke will be hard-pressed to find a 50-point puck-moving dman for around 4.25mil/year.

Another stupid comment I keep hearing over the radio all day today is - AGAIN - Marc Savard to the Leafs. Are Torontonians this utterly stupid?????? 32 years old at 7 years for 4mil/year with a NTC who just got CLOCKED by Cooke. Seriously? Toronto fans AND media are too freaking stupid.

So far, I'm happy. We got Versteeg - 24yrs. old at around 3.3mil/year for about 2 more years I think. Proven starter, Calder cup finalist. 20 goals 50 points last year playing on the third line. Can play the PP and PK. Should shine well in the second line. We gave up Stalberg who couldn't play defense, DiDomenico who just got over a major hip surgery, and Paradis who's not showing that he can play yet.

Colby Armstrong - 27yrs old for 9mil/3yrs. Gritty guy, but I think Burke overpaid for him a bit. Should do well on the third line and possibly crack the second line.

So, thank you Brian Burke for not trading away Kaberle needlessly and picking up a couple of good pieces for a bunch of pylons and hockey pucks.

Sounds like you and I are pretty much on the same page. Kaberle has an excellent contract and without his skills, we would lose some qualities that nobody else on our defence has. Plus he has tremendous work ethic and wants to stay as a Leaf. Maybe like Gonchar, he would be willing to take a little less to stay in order to stay in Toronto. However, like you said, his stock just went up today.

Colby Armstrong and Matt Cooke were a couple of players I wanted Burke to make an effort in getting. Cooke got re-signed a few days ago and so that went out the door. $3m per season is a little high for Armstrong (I was hoping around $2m-$2.5m), but I can live with it as long as he doesn't have a bad season.

Versteeg - I'm still giddy and can't wait for the new season to see him.

Next, I hope Kulemin re-signs, and with Van Ryn being out, we need another D-man (especially if Kaberle does end up getting traded. I also wouldn't mind seeing at least one more top 6 forward (preferably a LW).

I know its a pipe dream with the red wings cap space, but cmon ken holland, find a way to make your magic happen. Datsyuk passing to Kovalchuk for just 1 year western conference be very very scared.

I think the Leafs and the Canucks have both made good moves recently. Excited to see what each of those teams do next year. Canucks if they can get past the 2nd round and Leafs if they can make the playoffs.

Leafs definitely need to resign Kulemin to a 2 year deal worth $2.5 mil per year.

The Canucks did very well. Really...what they needed to get past the second round was defence. IMO, they have a very good chance of getting past the 2nd round now.

I see what the Leafs were thinking. Bring in an experienced player (Versteeg) that has been through the Cup finals already. The leafs need some experience.
