Halo-- A rarity there, he refused to sign that card often a few years down the line because the cut by his eye was from his famous loss to Troy Crowder.

Big big big loss to the hockey world. Not just the best fighter of his time, probably the best fighter of all-time (with apologies to Behn Wilson, Nick Fotiu, and Dave Brown). Played in an All-Star game with a season of 29 goals and 398 PIM. Fought everyone, beat everyone. There aren't too many that he lost to without beating them at least once.

I have 6 DVD's of his fights. I'll be spending the next week watching them in memory of the guy.

I know that Bob had more than his share of personal problems, and it would be VERY easy to immediately turn to alcohol or drugs for an answer to this one, BUT, and I'm not saying they aren't both viable options, I want everyone who is not in Southern Ontario/Southern Quebec/Northern Michigan today to know that the heat today is unbelievable, and is expected to remain for most of the week. Advisories here are telling people to stay indoors, etc., etc. It's just as likely that Bob decided to "suck it up" for the day and do some fishing with his buddies, without realizing how dangerous the poor quality of air (smog alerts) and intense, humid heat might be to their cause. If they weren't properly hydrated... I'm just saying, let's not jump to conclusions. I took a less than 5 minute walk to the post office to send off my day's bubble mailers, and I was light-headed upon returning home, and I've been drinking my water and keeping cool, so... I'm just saying. A sad, sad story by all accounts. Best fighter of his day.

Thanks for sharing that as it sad when folks jump to conclusions. Was shocked to read this as he was so young. Will miss a fan favorite of almost everyone top tier tough guy!

Very sad to hear. Like ravens_creed has mentioned, it's best if nobody jumps to conclusions. The media is reporting that it was a heart attack and since he was fishing in southern Ontario, the brutal heat we're having could have contributed or triggered it. Propert was such a great fighter and I'll never forget him dropping the gloves with all of the other heavy weights. He was scheduled to be at a celebrity golf tournament here in Belleville next weekend.

RIP Bob. He sounded like a very nice guy, and he will be greatly missed.

Just like everyone else has said...Not jumping to conclussions, but it might have been the heat plus the cold water that might have also triggered it. Hot and cold do not mix well together.

Whatever the reason was...the hockey world has lost yet another wonderful person.
