This board is full of children, that is the reason. They want the flavour of the week, and the newest Gizmos.

When I run into an older member on here, it always results in a trade.

Sorry but children don't pay $100/pack and $300/pack... it is the adults. This hobby is made for adults. Children can only buy products like UD Victory; other products are way too much expensive. Card companies are delivering what collectors want. If more people want HOFers, UD would include more HOFers. I assure you that if ITG or UD does not include the hottest names in their products, their products woudn't get significant demand on the markey. Since most vintage names don't sell, so you don't see them often in the new products. Why do you think player/goalie names of the 1980s and 1990s like Patrick Roy, Mark Messier, Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman, etc. are so important in the ITG lineup? Because pre-1970s vintage names (Tim Horton, Ted Lindsay, etc.) don't sell enough in the current market. It is as simple as that. I hope people can agree on this...

I consider anyone 12-25 a child in this hobby.

At 25, a guy with a wife and a kid, and beeing already a professional in life, ... so I guess he is a child with a child! In my book a 25 years old guy collecting for over a decade is already a veteran hockey card collector (so many people are leaving the hobby when they start working)! Then, at 35 you are a master collector. :)

What about 35 years of collecting? :)

The definition of "kid" changes as you get older.

I get that vintage collectors are in the minority, but it's a very dedicated minority.

It's funny, though, because when I was a kid, the coolest cards to have were always the oldest ones you could get your hands on, no matter the condition or who was actually on the card. You collected the current season, of course, but if you could pick up something more than five years old, you'd jump on that in a real hurry.

So what if they want the flavour of the week? Is it your money they're spending?

edit: Spelling/Grammatical error. "Their" should be "They're."
