I know, it is, but still prevents pack searching as well.

I only have one word that completely explain what I think of pack searchers: discusting
I never card search but I have seen it and it's pathetic. In my lcs you have to tell an employee what you what you want and you get like 10 seconds to make your pick....TIMES UP pack searchers!

I don't really like pack searching either, but I think every one has done it a couple times.

    I know I have.

I only do it at retail stores... I probably shouldn't though... I don't do it all the time though.

I'm talking pack searching as in: "feeling the outside of the pack for stiffness"

some people constitute it as opening the packs and taking the good card(s)

You don't get anything good out of retail anyway...

so I don't think doing it in a retail store is too much of a big deal

in a hobby shop, there's no way

I remember it used to be easier, especially mid 90's when die-cuts were really coming on the scene. squeezing packs was not that difficult to do.

now with cardboard sleeved inserts, its near impossible.

i have never opened packs in a store though, without paying. not my style

Not completely true. They still put good hits in retail, just few and far between.

A guy on HI pulled a Sidney Crosby 1/1 auto out of a retail pack of Artifacts.

When I was like 8 I pack searched. My Idea of pack searching qas just opening the packs LOL if I liked it I got my mom to buy it. None of that anymore. Hate the guys now, even more so the ones who brag and open em' on youtube.

    Ahh...who cares.

I've bought a lot of retail stuff, but normally stick to the unopened blaster boxes that have decent value rookies. If I were to buy loose packs and had the choice of buying one that was obviously thicker than the other, I would do it. Is that searching? I realize there are more tricks to the trade than that, so if someone wants to use their time and money trying to find the "good pack" then that is their business.

Have you ever got a good "steal" by winning a mis-labled ebay auction? Have you ever made a lowball offer to a seller or made a trade that you knew was well in your favor? In all these cases you are taking advantage of a fellow collector. How is that any less honest than someone who goes to Target and takes advantage of knowing how to feel some packs? Lets not be too hypocritical.

yeah, i agree, i think we've all done it maybe even a little. though i haven't had much luck at it! whenever i get a 'thicker' pack at target, it turns out to be a decoy anyways!

I caught a pack searcher once at Target.....decided to embarress him a bit - calmly went right next to him.....after trying to hide my nose from his stench, I asked..."Hey - anything good?" no reponse....so I added "Make sure you get the good ones so the kids who buy here dont get anything...." and then as calm as I could be told him he was F'n ruining it for kids......

He was feeling the packs...so "maybe" he might find something (depending if he mastered it)...but the ones that get me all bent out of shape are the ones that open packs to see, then leave them there when there is nothing...and the WORST kind is just plain stealing them out of packs....

If I am at Target and see a fatter pack, I will grab it and make the purchase - many have led to me being unhappy in the car but hey - just part of busting packs....
